I'm all for Nuc being given a chance.....but let's not put Nuc in any comparison to Troy Aikman......none.
well, you can make the comparison that they both looked like they sucked at one point and everyone was calling for their heads!

DiNucci has the potential to be the backup. I'm not an expert but a big problem last year was he had some weird throwing mechanics. If he cleans that up he has everything else- smarts, arm talent, athleticism, etc.

Hes gotta be related to someone cause watching him throw the ball isn't how he got on this team
DiNucci grew up in the area of Pittburgh that HC Mike McCarthy did. McCarthy's brother was DiNucci's 8th grade basketball. McCarthy followed DiNucci's football career in high school and college.

If he wants to be qb2 hes got to demonstrate he can throw from point a to point b

there was no confidence he could do so and Kellen Moore knew there was an issue because that offense vs the Eagles was a high school trick play offense

Mechanics must have been a big deterrent to his draft stock; DiNucci lasted until 7th round despite stellar junior and senior seasons at FCS powerhouse James Madison.

I'm no expert on x's and o's, but I do know this from experience over the last 50 years, Football teams' success rides on 3 main cogs, the oline, dine FIRST, then the QB. If we have success this year, we will have gotten better in those areas. All MM and staff will have to do is call the correct play then stay out the way. DONT MESS IT UP.

if we didn't improve the oline, dline, our chances of success are null. End of story. If you can't stop your opponent from jamming the ball up the gut on the ground for big chunks of yardage, it won't matter much what we do otherwise. This game aint complicated unless we make it so. PS- I hope we did fix what ails us because I get to actually go to the Thanksgiving game this year against the Raiders. Lets hope we got something to play for by then.

I know this is a QB thread on the QB back up spot, but my point is, will it even matter if we didnt get better in the trenches? By week 5 or 6 I expect us to be at least showing improvement stopping the run. It will be growing pains but I think we can find our groove by midseason. Right now we dont even know who will step up at DT. Who will it be guys? For me, I think Gallimore is one. I'm confident in saying that based off last year in very bad circumstances coachingwise. I wanna see what other guy will shine next to him.

Dak looked great in preseason. So did Romo. Denucci sucks. Its sooo obvious. Anytime a coach wishes his young QB would have more confidence its a death sentence.

DiNucci didn't have a preseason. He was thrown into a game against starters playing complex schemes, not the simple ones teams use in preseason games.

He sucked in that situation and may even suck in preseason games, but it's hard to hold one start against a small-school quarterback who didn't even have a preseason.

Hard for me to get behind a QB where the coach is saying that he needs to have more confidence.

Isn't that the same thing they have said about Dak?

Isn't that the thing that almost all young QB's struggle with? The windows are smaller & the pressure is higher.

Being able to free the mind to trust what you are seeing & that you can physically execute the play. That's when any player truly begins to "play" the game.

Nope, never said it about Dak. Dak was very confident from the start.

They said it in different words. Wade Wilson worked quite a bit with him to "let it go".

Just saying I wouldn't hold it against any young player if coaches said they were looking for them to become more confident.

Denucci even said he had no business being out there that game. Dont like him.

Romo is one of the few examples of a developed QB that made it big. Usually one that sits on the bench for three years never makes it.

And it is not like he had great QBs ahead of him. Q, Clint Stoerner, Bledsoe was on his last legs, Chad Hutcinson. And what was the name of the guy Jerry thought would be a great one that BP knew was a dud?
...Romo was an odd case of talent and luck. Luck that he played for Dallas. Became really talented towards the end. Screwed by JG and Co.

...have to agree with you Roy. Denooky just doesnt show that persona or skin to become a quality backup or starting QB. He reminded me of someone with one foot in water, the other out.

The worst thing anyone could have done to DiNucci was to expose him when he was so ill suited to play.

Selling him on this website now is folly, while McCarthy just failed to promote his player evaluation skills.

Actually, it seems that the best thing that DiNucci could likely be blessed with is to impress well in TC.
