Yes, that footage was from last season. McCarthy's quote (and this thread's title) was based on Gallimore's offseason work ... in the weight room and classroom, not on the field of play. The same sort of stuff you brushed off as part of Hill's press clippings that weren't about what took place on the field of play.

I'd spin it this way too if I were you but only if it was less obvious, lol.

One had actual play supporting it. The other was just words. But if you want to play ignorant and consider them the same? That’s your problem.

Go buy yourself a Trysten Hill jersey for all I care.

Gonna do the ol' stasheroo get busted, but dig in anyway dance, eh? Neither quote was referring to on field play which was your point for dismissing one but supporting the other. Spin it, though. You might land on $1.00. Lol.

I’ll let you answer it:

Which was supported by visual evidence and which one wasn’t?

What's the DT pass rush rotation w/o Hill? I see Gallimore and Osa. Who else?

How many defensive tackles are they keeping? Urban and Bohanna are two more and they signed Watkins too. I don’t think they’ll keep five.

Neither, because we're talking about the quote that's responsible for the article and this thread title as well as the one you dismissed for Hill calling it an "offseason, camp puff quote" that was "not any actual reflection of on-field game performance" by your own words. Well, neither is this one. The fact the author included video from last season is inconsequential because McCarthy's quote had nothing to do with that footage and was just his own current observation of improvement from then. Same for Hill the previous year with Stephen. Except you were "happy to read" this one for Gallimore and attempted to discredit Hill for the exact same thing. Hill's was actually better because Stephen DID mention his play in his observation whereas McCarthy just mentioned Gallimore's body and study habits. The video from the past wasn't support or visual evidence of that, was it?

Gallimore is an interesting case. He had ridiculous numbers in the weight room coming out of college but was technically quite raw. He had a lot of experience running stunts at OU but the way they played didn’t give him much opportunity to develop as a 3T.

I hope gallimore takes the next step this year but we won't know till we see him play in a game.

In regards to hill he does have a little battle to keep his roster spot. But when has any team been injury free at such a physical position? So often these young bucks start off well then the opponents counter whatever they do well and these rooms hit the wall. Hill hadn't been great but he's worked hard to try an improve and if healthy it might just save him for 1 more year.

We're going into the season with a 2 man pass rush rotation at DT? And only one full size run/pass 3T. I don't think so.

I guess that’s where we disagree. My opinion incorporated the positive video as well while you want to call it inconsequential. That video shows Gallimore capable of playing well at the pro level, something we have not seen from Hill.

Do what’s your number on how many defensive tackles they keep? Or defensive linemen overall?

Glad to hear that Gallimore had a great offseason and is poised to improve in his second year. His stock shot way up for me during the Pitt game last year— and I will forever appreciate the kid blasting Big Ben in that game lol

It's encouraging to hear that Gallimore has improved his strength and conditioning in the offseason. I'm also hoping to see that his play has improved significantly upon reading this good news. The other DTs will be closely observed also, without a doubt. The defensive line has lots of work to do before their development is likely to be considered impressive.

Gallimore is still very young yet and his development will surely be of interest to see. He'll be one of the special players of interest in training camp and the preseason games to follow. Of course, much the same can be said of everyone on our defense. Here's hoping our ability to stop the opposition's running game might be vastly improved in 2021. I'm hoping Dan Quinn is the answer to making that come about.

You may be right but then Dallas running 4-3/ 3-4 hybrid I think it will be interesting who they keep and how many along the front DL.

Like every other position, I hope someone steps up to the point that any choices that need to be made become obvious. I was more hopeful for Hill last year. I thought he was getting it. Him being hurt, impacts that for me. He has no skins on the wall. So, not being available only hurts him. He also isn't the current DC's handpicked guy. He looks like an overdrafted player that the current staff isn't nearly as invested in.

I won't be surprised if they cut him. If he isn't steady trying to endear himself to the new coaches, I think he could be gone.

I'm super hopeful for Gallimore. The second year seems to be a crossroads for a lot of these guys. It seems like they either fade into the background or take a big stride forward. Gallimore sounds like he has put in the work. Now, it needs to show up between the whistles.

i hope it all works out for Gallimore,..for us...

As we really need a pleasant surprise hidden gem find
If Gallimore develops into a Chris Jones ( drafted in 2nd rd) and Stephen Tuitt (also drafted in 2nd round) type pleasant surprise find that would be so huge for this team.

But looking back at the past few years , it's just really tough to stumble upon those type 3rd, 4th rd draftees to become all star stellar DTs
yes, it's rare ..but its not out of the question.

mid to late round drafted DT gems that come to mind:
Falcons got Grady Jarrett - round. 5
Cincy got Geno Atkins - round 4
Saints with LaRoi Glover - round 5
Kyle Williams - round 5

And you usually have to draft interior rushers much higher to even have the best chances at an impact DT
