They were winning with Favre before him. GB had won championships and competed before Rodgers ever set foot in GB. I don't believe in paying players and then allow them to run the team and throw hissy fits. I tell you what how about Rodgers getting paid a lot less money to free up cap space to sign and keep players, you think he would go for that? Hell no Players want their and then turn around and want to tell management who they should keep and let go? No you don't like the lunatics run the asylum

But from the early days of the NFL til mid 80's they were largely a laughing stock. During that period you only got access to a few games a week so I would watch them if I had to but I knew going in that it was likely to be very painful.

I said you don't let them dictate. Public opinion would not be so far in AR's favor if the organization could say they at least tried to understand what he would like. But they can't because they didn't because they thought they were planning his exit on their timeline. They were wrong.

Which is why if I was GB I would look to trade Rodgers and get 2 to 3 1st rd picks in the process. Again I'm sorry I would not let any player call the shots on who stays and who goes especially when that player is a main reason why they have to let certain players go.

GB was down for many years in the 70's until Favre took over could they face many down years after Rodgers? that is possible but if you trade him and get something of real value in return you have a better chance of finding a top QB to replace him

A player should be consulted before a personnel move is made?

No. Hell no, even.
I can see Rodger’s point. He’s the one throwing the ball and if he feels like he knows where the guy is going to be and is in synch with them that may be more important than what the coaches or scouts are saying.

if Rodgers says he was their 2nd best WR and they cut him, that’s a big discrepancy of opinion.

So he said he just wants to be consulted about players being cut. So say the GM or coach or both call him in and tell him we're cutting player x. Rogers lobbies to keep player x but they cut him anyway. You think Rogers is going to just say, "well they listened to me" and be happy? I don't.
But why would you cut a guy your QB thinks is the 2nd best WR on the team? He isn’t asking for input on LBers.

if you expect him to cook the meal, might want to see if he can work with the ingredients ....

Most do not throw hissy fits as Rodgers did and threaten to walk away. I would trade his butt and get what I can for him and move on. No player is bigger than the team. GB was here long before Rodgers and will be around long afterwards

When an organisation continually let's their best players walk and don't draft any wide receivers in the first round then that would wind up any QB worth their salt after 17 years.

The people that get paid to make those decisions obviously didn't agree. And you don't know what his motivations are for saying that, maybe they are really good friends or he is friends with his family and wants him to have a job or maybe he just made that stuff up for his conference to make it seem like he had an legit gripe (which even if 100% true, he doesn't). Who knows but he is a QB, 1 of 53 positions on the team. Maybe they should hold a team vote for cut down or maybe the long snapper has a thought...
