Rosen has been on 4 teams in 3 seasons….he’s not fairing much better he’ll he’s on pace to be on more than 6 teams in 7 years lol.
Gilbert just turned 30...Rosen is 24. I'd give the younger guy a chance here.
Perhaps he will be a 'late bloomer' by 27.....LOL.

I don’t think so. Was a knock at UCLA

I don’t know, nor can I truly question his love for football.. I haven’t read/heard ab that.

I will say.. a close friend of mine is a die hard Dolphins fan and he said the rumor out of the clubhouse was..Rosen’s attitude was his biggest problem. Apparently he has the “I’m better than you” type attitude that rubs his teammates the wrong way. Of course, as the QB.. you can get away with being an *******, but you have to be able to make the players around you believe in you..Basically, his not a good leader.

That said, it sucks for him.. sounds like his failures in the NFL is his own doing, even if he physically has the talents. I suppose like most QBs that don’t make it.. it’s more cerebral, than physical.

That’s just it.. with Rosen, it’s not ab whether he can physically play QB.. he can.

He can’t lead a team. This is why several teams/coaches keep trying to tap into his potential.. but his personality is cancerous.

To summarize: He’s a spoiled rich kid that thinks he’s earned his right to a job.. he hasn’t. Hard pass for me.

Well I just posted the first one I found.. but my Dolphins friend was saying the same was being said about him last year, so take that for what it’s worth. I’m sure you can Google it, just as well as I have. The fact that he’s been with four teams in four years.. and released before his rookie contract would have ran out.. that’s all I need to know. I’d bet that much hasn’t changed considering the circumstances.

I’ve thought Gilbert has done pretty solid all things considered. It’s not like he’s out there with our best guys.

That ball he dropped into Cedric Wilson the other night was impressive.

He’s got a big arm too and a little bit of mobility not a lot but enough to take what’s there.

Until he just falls apart in a game I’m fine with him.

Dude Was the #1 QB in the nation out of highschool and lost some confidence but I think if he has to play then we’ll get as good of play as we did with Dalton if not a little better.

But.. I may be wrong too and he may crumble when the lights come on. I’d just rather go with him over Rosen.
Yeah I’m not a fan of a guy being discredited because he’s been on a few teams…he may simply be a better player now than he was 2 years ago.

I thought he was going to be good, he was on some pretty crappy teams, but the bucs practice squad seamed like a good idea until the 9ers got him. I though he should have stayed in Tampa to learn behind Brady but I guess the practice squad is kind of BS. He needs to be on a roster 2-3 years and just learn the system and have a good Oline. I don’t really know what happened to him maybe just too many coaches and systems who knows. You’ve got to be thinking veteran minimum and commit to keeping him for 2-3 years….he can’t be any worse then Nucci, but it maybe looks like he clashes with his teams or the other QBs/coaches or something

I know nothing about Rosen, but I know what I see. Gilbert is not a legit backup.
If a team really wants to compete without their starter, the backup better
  1. Be a veteran QB who has started in the league. A vet who can step in and not be surprised or controlled by a defense because he’s seen it all before. A vet who knows when to take a shot and when to give up on a play or drive. He can drive the bus because he knows the roads.
  2. Be a young guy with upside and a special talent….huge arm that can make special throws here and there though inconsistent or legs that can take off and get first downs when his first read isn’t there or the protection fails.
Gilbert has nothing, neither experience nor talent. He’s a nobody that we are simply hoping will step up for a talented offense like Dak did when Romo went down. I haven’t seen it yet. When cut-downs happen, I hope we find a journeyman vet or a kid who can make plays with his legs to be Dak’s backup.

Gilbert has the best arm of any QB on the roster. He just is inept in almost everything else.

I didn't say I think Gilbert is the guy either. Again, I'm looking for someone that will be a real upgrade.

I disagree with your statement about not striving to do better though. Dalton was certainly an effort to do that last year, as was drafting Dak as a developmental guy. I think they have actually drafted more QB's the last 5 years than in the previous 20+ years. They've missed on all but Dak, but it is an effort they weren't making before.
Yes - Dalton was a solid signing... just like Joe Flacco is a backup guy for the Eagles.
Yeah, the Cowboys have drafted a few QBs recently... but the selections have been in the late rounds = equating to a lack of skills \ability \ IQ \ toughness to succeed as a pro. To wit - when someone brings up 6th- rounder Tom Brady - the crescendo always erupts about how he was an outlier \ rare exception \ unicorn, etc.
My stance on the backup QB is that a player should be in place to adequately perform for a few games to keep a legit playoff contender winning. If the franchise's current outlook is to select a bonifide future starter -- chose one that has most (if not all) of the tools and makeup to succeed after a couple of grooming seasons.

Inept is a good description. In today’s NFL, I’d like a starting caliber backup….duh. But outside of one of those, give me the scrambling, mobile QB as a backup.
