More people watch Alabama play than any NFL team.

Do people prefer NFL or college football?

A January 2020 survey showed that 13 percent of respondents very much preferred watching college football to NFL on TV.

How much do those players make?

Something could be done, the way things are now is crazy.
There are rules that prevent college players from making money. Very bad example

Tom Brady a basketballer? Hell, a baseballer?

Philip "Can't break 5 flat in a 40" Rivers playing another sport, nay!

What about all those 300 pounders, what.....pro rasslin'?
Probably so. THe most gifted athletes in the world wouldn't be in the NFL. They'd be playing a different sport.

The owners own the team, they take the risks, started all this. Players come and go. Its the teams we watch.

Im not worried about the players not playing. They have nothing else they can do most of them.

These guys don't deserve 40 million a year. Salaries have gotten ridiculous. Its taking away from the game and the love of the sport.
So you think all the money should go to owners who don’t put their bodies at risk
And it is the players who fans come to see
That’s why every attempt to compete with the nfl has failed
People want to see the best players, not just any player
If it was just about an owner then other leagues would have had some success

What if teams around the NFL could just sign top players to 1 year Deals??? We harp so much on what players are making, and how they're not living up to the amount of money they are costing the team.

Instead of having a long term commitment, why not 1 year deals, that way if their play isn't up to par, there's no long term attachment!! Your thoughts....

Except for draft picks, players and teams are free to sign 1 year deals and some do. Stars will never sign 1 year deals unless they include massive insurance policies for injuries. Even then, there's not enough cap room to sign a significant number of studs to one year deals. Players would demand (and would deserve) HUGE one year deals, especially coming off decent seasons.

You completely ignore the fact that the players are in Union.

and yes the players are the absolute best in the world. Which is why their value is so high. This has nothing to do with target or wal mart. You’re talking about low skilled wages vs wages for rare people who can do things that very few other people can do.

If the Owners wanted to remove guarantees and Lower salaries, The Union strikes. Good luck to the owners trying to make as much money, using scab players who suck and aren’t fun to watch play.

So again, the point of the thread. Why would the players Union agree to LESS guaranteed money and pay, all the while the leagues profits are going up?

The CBA literally outlines what % of revenue goes to the players. Why would the players want less? The players Union does care about how much the NFL makes. When the players, by contract are guaranteed a certain % of revenue. Unlike Walmart/target etc. which is why your example doesn’t fit.

Why would players want less guarantees when they play a violent game where they could be injured and lose their career at any time?

that’s why the OP’s idea wouldn’t work.

Dude, we all get how it currently is. ok? I am talking about dramatic changes that isn't real obvious? The NFL is nothing like it once was so yes changes are nothing new we just needs some more, ok?

Who's the highest paid CFL player?

The new contract makes Fajardo one of the CFL's highest-paid players. That bar is reportedly set by B.C. Lions quarterback Mike Reilly, who signed a four-year, $2.9 million deal in 2019 ($700,000 annually). Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell's makes roughly the same on a four-year deal.Jan 5, 2021

How do those guys make ends meet?

The new contract

I'm not sure how to respond to you. You certainly have an interesting perspective. You just have a great deal of difficulty understanding even basic common knowledge.

Yeah but you’re telling me they’d play in the NFL on one year deals as opposed to other sports?

Not everyone can play other sports. What NFLers would be starting on NBA teams right now?

I ran track and played football, totally sucked at baseball, could play D in basketball but couldn't dribble or shoot.

That was so wrong it's comical. How many employees make even a tiny tiny fraction of what the company/owner makes? Dude, stop with your ....DUH!

My brother worked at an olive plant Early California Farms, they were a union. So they close down, re open with no union. If you wanted your old job back cool, as they hired new people. That is the world we live in.

I bet you didn't go to school at all amigo.

How does the CFL make it work so long?
Me.confused. you are totally lost. Is there a set rule how much does the owner make vs. employees? No it's the value of an employee to an owner and how that employee can make him money...or is that a really hard concept for u to grasp?

So you think NFL can close down and reopen without a union...tell me how many NFL calibur players are there in the world?. Vs olive pickers!!! That company could find olive pickers easily.....there is plenty of supies. So when the union didn't renegotiate they closed down and said see ya...

So you think Tom Brady and Mahomet grown on every tree and are easily replaced....if you think that the you are stupider than you let on...

Dude supply and demand is totally lost on you. You are nothing but a complainer..

The AFL started out with nothing, so what happened? How has the CFL stayed in business all these years?

Dude, the NFL could shut down today, kick out the union and start hiring new players at half of what they are currently paying. The 2022 the first season of the new NFL, watch what happens. If the current players want to play in the non union NFL ok cool.

Chiefs owner....only paying 20 mill for a QB Patrick

So what are his options, well?

Players should be paid reasonable salaries for what they do. Yah, owners and the franchise should reap the benefits of what they have created and fostered. Players come and go. At the end of the day, its a part time job playing a kids sport.

It’s far from a part time job and many leave the game with lifetime physical harm to their bodies
If the players didn’t matter why has no other league not been able to make it
It’s about the players, not the owners

We just pay bad players over price. When good players hit the market we want to save, and instead overpay players who are avg.

It is without question about the owners, without them there is no NFL so hello CFL making a fraction of what they do now.

There are over a 1000 colleges that play football, all those footballers would love to play pro football, never be a shortage of players.

First Bill WR to have a 1000 yard season, Blufton's Elbert "Golden Wheels" Dubenion. where is Blufton?
