the owners care about one thing and one thing only. themselves. why is that so different? now, the owners can take a more long term look at things, given players have about a 4 to 5 year windows (majority, except for a smaller percentage that have longer career)....and what's wrong with players being selfish and want money?......

and I disagree, both owners and players have the same interest. maximize revenue, because its good for both...so players want to put the best product out there too.....so no, its not just owners carrying the burden, the players do too....

and I think there is a power balance based on CBA....and if things change, and the owners feel they can push back and make more....they will. they are not stupid. they are all rich and have made money not just from NFL but from other businesses too. and its not just one owner, there is 32. so you can't say they are dumb for giving in to the players....they have much smarter people working for them on the business side than you and I.....

and why should they spread the money to the others in the organization? I distribute it to those that will give me highest return on my investment....if the other guy in the org. can easily be replaced, then I replace him...for example that's why good GMs demand top money. good coaches demand top money...but scouts may come and go (not all of them obviously)......

I think the business environment and market changes over time and that's why they make agreements and that they come back to negotiating table and redo it.....its not permanent...they do what they think is best for the time and forseeable future. these CBA aren't lifetime. they get redone once every few years....

out of all the sports the NFL owner group is the tightest also, they back each other during CBA's and get what they want. Agian som of the contracts look big but in comparison to other leagues.....the NFLPA has the hardest job during the CBA's for sure.

Roy check out other sports...the NFL owners have way more control than any other league WAY more....do the salaries look crazy yes but not compared to what other sports have to pay to get good players.

MLB, alex Rodriguez had a 250, 10 year contract in 2000, then followed that up with 10 year 275M with yankees. which ended up a 317M contract in the end...gauranteed...that's nuts

Nothing is worse than the NBA. Poster child for the inmates running the asylum. The players are basically the GM's now. They decide who coaches, what type of coach is hired, ect.....ect.....

Players are getting paid way too much. Simple as that. Its out of whack. And even bigger issues is the imbalance of the salaries. One player shouldn't be able to take up 20% of the entire salary cap. There should be a cap on how much one player can get.

They are now basically pooling together to make who wins a choice before the season in the NBA

why are they getting paid too much? they are getting paid, within the rules of the contracts and agreements between owners and players. they are making the league money, it has never been as popular. and if the object of the owners is to make money, they need to find the best way to invest their money......and as I have said it before, the market will adjust, given CBAs get redone....and I don't see an imbalance in salaries. I see what the market bears paying a player, with one goal in mind to win a championship (and make more money in the process)..and everyone gets $180M to play with (2021) and subsequently it changes. why shouldn't one player make 20% of the salary cap. what is wrong with that?....there is no law that says employees should be paid on a specific scale and they have a cap in their pay...the CEO, VPs make way more money than cubicle employees sitting in the big open hall. there is no rule on how much you pay a CEO or VP..so should they make less too?

and if it comes to that one player making too much, then they may put that cap for players in place. who knows. in fact they did that with rookies, putting a limit on how much a rookie makes because veteran players wanted more of it....and the give was that rookies can become FA in 4 years for first rounders and 3 years for 2-7.....

Yep............its collusion. They hang out at the all star game and decide who is going to play with who. Demand trades and make super teams. They get coaches fired. I have even heard some players say they wont play for certain teams because they dont have coaches or FO people that look like them. Its completely out of hand.

Cant stand him, but i give him credit. Lebron James basically runs the NBA. Owners completely screwed themselves they are losing control.

that's the owners fault, but the NBA is top star driven....and they are making money hand and fist....NBA is not limited to the US, they expanded their market internationally...which NFL has not been able to do.

But NFL players should play on 1 year deals.....
no kidding!!!

it is what it is. teams deal with it. there is a superbowl champion every year. it sounds like people on this board, cowboys fans I assume, are unhappy about team not winning anything and they want to change the rules, thinking that would help the team. well, it won't.

you have ADHD? I will keep it shorter for you given your lack of attention

you have not explained why somebody shouldn't be paid 40M. what is wrong with that?..you have not provided one viable reason outside of your opinion....so just say its your opinion, its not logical nor makes business sense.

They dont deserve it, simple as that. And yah, that is an opinion. LOL

Throwing a football 17 times a year on Sundays doesnt warrant 40 million dollars.
