We shouldn’t be talking about Parsons covering.

I could care less if he becomes the best coverage linebacker of all time now. He’s a pass rusher and that’s more valuable than anything he could do as a MLB.

We have a Von Miller type of talent and we’re going to have him
Covering people 15 yards downfield? That’s a huge W for the offense.
I disagree. We've seen it in the past with guys like Von Miller and Khalil Mack. Its a asset to be able to put athlete like that in coverage...you can give some crazy looks as a defense especially in a Quinn defense.

They traded down because they could still get Micah. I do not see this team trading down from Pitts or Sewell if they are there. And quite frankly? I don't think they should've. I don't trade away from premium prospects personally.

And the Eagles trade was so foolish because they literally traded away from the 1st tier talent in the 1st round. They got LUCKY that the Cowboys were willing to trade with them...otherwise, they would've missed out on Devonta Smith. So I say its foolish but it ended up working out in the favor of the Eagles. Some nice maneuvering by them to get the guy they want.
They still put Parsons at risk and counted on the Giants not getting some payback. Everyone knew the Bears had to go for a QB to save the GM and HC's jobs.

The Giants were stupid, they should have taken Parsons, they're known for LB's almost as much as PIT.

Yes he is but they weren't 31st against the run in 2020.
I know. I was just saying that one of CBs they were considering is looking like the real deal and they were justified in taking him as the first CB. At least at this point...

Glad they got the Parsons/Joseph combo. Just disappointed that Joseph got injured when he did. He would have been getting practice reps and possibly getting game time in the first two weeks. That would aid in him taking over for Anthony Brown who is in over his head as a starter IMHO. Hope that Joseph gets up to speed fast and takes over CB2 sooner rather than later!

Personally i much rather have Parsons, Joseph and Golston than getting Surtain/Horn and maybe Osa and Wright.

You aren't getting Golston because of trade back and to move up would cost you a 2nd and possibly a 3rd.

Joseph is going to be a lockdown corner, can't wait until he is back so folks can stop the corner in first round talk when Parsons and Joseph are much better than 1 corner

People are touting he's the best defensive player NOW but during the draft process I didn't see many people say that. There were just as many people saying Horn or Surtain were the best as well.

If we drafted Horn or Surtain they'd still be saying it because they'd be our guy. Wouldn't expect a fan to say anything else that high in the 1st unless they thought we reached for a guy. So all the early Parsons love was just a, "Well, that's what we got. Might as well get behind it."

So about that tanking last year? Had we "tanked" like many here wanted...we probably end up with the 4th-6th pick in the draft.....and there's no way in hell they are trading down from that and they aren't taking Parsons.....this is why you should let the draft play out. Sometimes things fall into your lap.
Kyle Pitts would have been the pick at 4

Surtain was considered the most ready for the NFL, same as Mac Jones for QB's. Long run can be a different story.

Surtain reminded me of Byron Jones, solid and steady but not sexy, Horn might be better in the long run and is proving that in the short run as well as he's playing and Surtain got benched. And the jury hasn't even taken a lunch break on Fat Boy Boss Man Sing-a-Song.

The other element to that is the D they played on in college. I do not like drafting Bama D players, hell they have a defense most years as good as half the NFL defenses. Felt the same way about LSU back then. Claiborne and Spears played on a better D in Baton Rouge than in Dallas.

yeah. that’s kinda what i was saying. anytime i heard best defender though it was unanimously parsons

You know what is frightening. I think the Cowboys lucked into his pass rushing ability. If Tank didn’t hurt his foot, Parsons would be a middle linebacker only. Last year’s draft we wanted Henderson at cornerback. He was over-drafted and the Cowboys ended up with CeeDee and Diggs. Just shows you that it is a good thing you don’t always get what you want.
But if you try sometimes, you get what you need.

they weren’t guaranteed micah they were guaranteed micah or slater, and they took the gamble for a third round pick. i absolutely believe theyd trade down w/ all the extra options for a random even if they only took the dolphins trade (which is where they ended up) they still get micah

yeah obviously

Yeah and Smith isnt exactly that great either. I would have fleeced the Eagles if that was me though. I would have wanted their second. Its a division rival.
Yeah I mean technically I think the 3rd round the Cowboys got was a "fleece". I think the value was suppose to be a lot lower than the pick they got but yeah I make them hurt. I want the 2nd rounder...if they don't want to give it oh well lol....

Because the board is an evil necessity like a HC is to Booger. The board gives McClay and the scouts something to do.

Guess he forgot getting in that reporter's face about Parsons being a fall back pick and inviting him to come in and look at the board?

The one action that defies Parsons was the guy all along was the trade down to 12 and risking losing him. They were reliant on the NYG not being pissed about the PHL trade that netted them Smith that they wouldn't trade with another team other than CHI and they would go for Fields?

There are always different boards with the Cowboys including the one in Booger's head where Manziel took the #1 position just because of the marketing.

They lucked into Prescott and it looks like they did the same with Parsons. Think the Cowboys run D was going to improve with a CB in the 1st?
Jethro is just responding to the critics here. He’s always peddling or attempting to justify their actions.

It’s not enough to simply tell it as it was. Public perception is everything to him.

Right.

After the fact we made a solid trade and drafted a talented player.

For some reason which I think I know why this dysfunctional ownership just can’t admit they were targeting the two CB who were grabbed right in front of them and maneuvered best they could .

Which in itself was a great reaction and trade after the fact. But that’s not enough for our Football Idiot.

He can’t stand the fact he’s being second guessed. Nor wants to admit the two CB’s were their initial targets And he want to sell that Parsons was their guy all along. Who frikin cares. It worked out fine.
