I will say that Fassel should get ok from HC before calling any type of punt block or fake punt. I know if i were the HC that is a bit of infomation I need to know before it is sent in to the players.

Fassel needs to get his ST play calling taken away for time being until he learns his lesson on not hurting the team with stupid situational play calls.
Geez......when we had Garrett, we griped that he didn't take chances....now we take chances and the staff still sucks? A player was held and thrown into the punter.....designated punt rushers are taught to extend in front of the punter leg extension......if you don't know football, teams actually buy expensive mats to practice this daily........mistakes happen, just like the 15 penalties that the Chargers had....

Taken away completely? Might as well fire him ... oh crap ... what have I done?

In reality, I don't mind him being aggressive. I do have a problem if he is doing it without any input from the HC.

I rather have a super aggressive ST coach who has to get approval from the HC, than a super conservative ST coach that is autonomous.

I am just against rushing the punter in all but the most dire circumstances. It sure seems like running into/roughing the punter happens much more frequently than a blocked punt does. always seems like a stupid risk IMO.

Fortunately NFL FO teams don't make knee jerk firings after 1 play. Like fans do.

I actually didn't mind the call. They were 4th and like 20, on their side of the field. If you are going to call an aggressive play,
that was the right time.

Actually my biggest problem with that play was calling roughing the kicker when they are hanging off our guy.
I don't know how subjective calls like that are actually made. It seems like if anything, off setting penalties and
punt again.

It’s not his fault the kicker was roughed; I think it’s important to stay aggressive. It’s good to keep other teams STs on their toes.

all it takes is a missed block, an olineman falls down, the backer gets the wrong man, a missed snap; that stuff only happens if you go for the block.
