They were talking on the game broadcast about how Kellen Moore is going to be a head coach somewhere next season. He'll be a hot commodity.

Does Jerry keep McCarthy if we have a nice playoff run and take the chance on losing Moore?

Does Jerry get rid of McCarthy with anything less than a Super Bowl run and make Moore the HC?

Will Jerry be able to keep Moore on as the OC until McCarthy's time is done?

I believe Jerry is in a tough spot. Because he clearly is grooming Moore for that HC spot and Moore might not want to wait around.

Is Kellen Moore the next Cowboys head coach ?

Tony Romo may have created a buzz with predicting Kellen Moore likely to be a HC in the NFL, but it spun waves as a big question among Cowboys Nation if he could actually be the next new head coach for the Dallas Cowboys.

Here could be some reasons FOR Kellen being considered as a possible Cowboys HC:

1) Jerry is…has been looking for that young offensive minded innovator here to be HC for years to come, …
He somehow slept on Sean Payton who was right under his nose under Parcells,.. he entrusted that Jason Garrett was his Sean Payton years to come ..and we know how that panned out.

2) Mike McCarthy may not be so highly thought of inside the Cowboys organization.
And very possibly he’s not thought of on the same level as Kellen Moore. – especially not as a pure play caller.

3) This is Kellen Moore’s offense., ,not McCarthy’s ..and Dak has been developed and excelling in this Kellen offense, why would Jones think of cutting off KM, and have Dak bring in a entirely new offense to have to learn ?

4) If I’m the Jones and leaning towards Kellen as HC, I’d consider what St. Louis Rams likely did to keep and anoint Mike Martz as the new Rams HC. …. .announce Diickk Vermeil as “ retired” to push him out diligently, while anointing mad scientist Mike Martz engineer of Greatest Show on Turf ,.as new Rams HC.

Some here may root for it, ... some will be likely against such a thought.
But I got that feeling it's going be brought up among media and fans often this season.

This has the potential to be a tricky situation. Kellen Moore will be highly sought after and probably offered a HC job next offseason by another team. Jerry will have to make him the highest paid OC in the NFL to keep him and that might not be enough. If Dallas makes the playoffs I don't see Jerry Jones firing McCarthy and promoting Moore to HC to keep him in the building. It really depends on Moore and how much he likes it in Dallas, how this season plays out, or if he's comfortable waiting a few seasons for McCarthy to either be fired or his contract expire. Jerry Jones could probably make a hand shake agreement with Moore and tell him he's they guy after McCarthy but I don't see them "retiring" or firing McCarthy if this season ends after a playoff birth. If we don't make the playoffs and have a end of season collapse then I could see it happening.

KM will have a longer leash in Dallas, if he goes somewhere else and fails, he can be four years and done. I think he stays because he wants to be Dallas HC.

Yes, Moore and MM will be co- head coaches, Jerry will make it up.

I dunno. Kellen is a Jerry product, McCarthy is not. We know how Jerry feels about stuff like that.

True but the context here.........how things have to play out to even have a chance
  • If we win big ( postseason included), no way in hell he can justify firing MM
  • If we miss the playoffs, maybe he can fire MM but wouldn't Kellen be part of the problem also?
Just don't see it with MM having 3 years left on his deal not to mention, it's simply not the right thing to do. In fact, I would go as far as to say I doubt Kellen would even want the job knowing the only reason MM was fired was to keep him from taking another job. Teams lose great assistant coaches every year ( ask WFT lol ), wish them the best, and find his replacement.

BTW ....I can see Nussmeier easily replacing Kellen

Depends on how we do this season. If we struggle then it could happen. If not we probably lose Moore.

Tough scenario for sure (assuming we make the playoffs and hopefully make some noise). I can't imagine firing a HC that has post-season success , but, I do think you greatly entice Moore to stick around. Going young at HC is the new trend around the NFL and it seems to be working for some teams.

What makes Kellen any more qualified than what Garrett was at the time he got the job? You're asking for 10 more years of losing and on the job training.

Very bad idea............

Well, it'd be crazy to get rid of a coach coming off a super bowl win. Right? Who'd do a thing like that?
