For some reason I couldn’t go back and edit the title I know that’s not the last name for Robert Are you also know they weren’t on the same roster. This is more or less about him passing

I'm a little confused. He died seven years ago.

Anyway while on the topic of Newhouse, I recall my dad, who was more of an outdoorsman than a pro sports fan....having much respect. Something about needing to have all clothes custom made due to his thighs. Very powerful runner, who strangely enough may have a tough time making an NFL roster in today's version of the game.

I do recall him playing but it was a complementary role to Dorsett by the time I showed up. I know he was once the feature back.

As far as the 1-2 success of Zeke/Pollard, I'd still put Barber/Jones ahead of them. They are forgotten about because we won nothing w them....but they were getting it done there for a while and were the perfect yin/yang.

Also don't forget the brief time Dorsett and Walker played together. I wish Coach could have done a little more with that, but.....we wish for a lot of things.

Thanks to YouTube, i've been able to watch full Cowboys games and past player personnel more closely.
Newhouse was a better pure FB than Ron Springs, who was more of a RB trying to portray a FB.

Robert brought a more physical tone and was a better lead blocker than Springs, who brought more of a receiving
threat than New.
Though i too ponder why Newhouse is brought up as a ' will miss' 7 years after his passing.

both felix and jones also overpaid..lol fell short whicjh of them won multiple Rushing titles, zeke would have had 3 stright we all know this to be facts if not for bogus suspension,,lets not downplay zekes career.?

both IMHO were backups like pollard who never were great at being #1 focus of the offense.. im assuming you mean Felix not Juilo Jones? they ahd soem nice moments but bne careful trying to compare them to zeke..yes felix and julio for that matter were pollard like Barber was bruiser liked them all but none are close to zeke..

Well yeah the Zeke/Pollard combo is much more about Elliott....to the tune of about 90%

I'll actually take Emmitt and nobody over any of them as combos.

In a case where they were a bit more even, I mentioned Jones/Barber.

Remember the overpaid guys didn't give those contracts to themselves.

Jerry figured he would take Bilpursails' roster, keep them all together for a few years, hire a puppet like Wade and take all the credit.

the issue is here go ahead take Emmitt out put zeke into those 90s teams, bet they wouldn't miss a beat.,.2016-2018 we ran that stlye of offense and zeke flourished ..ES averaged less then 4.5 his entire career and needed the 25-30 carries a game to get his 100-120 and thats a straight fact

ive posted many times here HALF of ES career yearly averages were under 4.5...zeke last week 4.44 yard per carry he only needed 7 more carries to top 100 ...that 1700 this year IF , big IF KM wanted to feature Zeke like ES was featured..like Henry is featured like the ravens still use the run game Browns took page right out of tour 2014-2018 offensive playbook..they feature the backs and use the PA pass game with some weapons' to open up the offense once they have defenses overplaying the run.

its not zekes fault a yr after he gets paid they change the entire offense and let me know when we have made the playoffs //:( fact two rushing crown years for zeke = playoffs zeke suspended 2017 no playoffs 2019 zeke did well while KM transitioned into this new blue field offsne but no playoffs..2020dodent count no playoffs but if you want it to go count that 4.0 ypg year and see that Emmiitts had more then i can remember 4-6 under 4YPC thats also a fact..

got it yet so i need to remind fans Emmitt was running behind 3-4 HOF OL with HOF qb, HOF coach, great defense great, special teams, and the offense was centered around the run game..when zeke was the featured back he got his yards just like henry..the titans' for 6 qtrs were averaging under 4YPC and they kept pounding henry until Bam a few holes broke opened and he got his yards..Kellen moores offense has changed the zekes future here now zeke not his declining skills..

that such lame bs excuse to rip on zeke..feed him he wil get his yards..Smith was never explosive, never fast ,was a volume back just like zeke...zeke needs to be featured to live up to his deal..dont want to hear about burst and explosiveness, you feature a back or you dont..RBBC you want it great but dont blame zeke for his numbers falling off..

now zeke and pollard will complinent each other but zeke never left the offensive philosophy did..how does anyone know whether zeke can get more 20+ yards carries it could come on run 25 in the 4th when the defense is breathing hard..we dont know it because Kellen moore stopped running that style offense..

truths and facts..

The first season we had Dorsett and Walker together promised so much, until Danny White went down with a broken wrist in week 8 or 9 we looked the best team in the NFC… then the wheels fell off, spectacularly.

Dorsett/Springs/Newsome
Calvin Hill/Duane Thomas

i still remember that game.
we were 6-2 going into it.
danny gets hurt and it was a gut punch.
yet we still had multiple chances to win that game.
it seemed every time we scored the touchdown got called back.
usually a holding call on phil pozdereck.
its a shame danny got hurt.
thats a game we could've won with #11.
7-2.....who knows how things might've come together for them.
losing danny....and that game...was a blow we didn't recover from.

Newhouse and Dorsett were on the same team and won a Super Bowl together in 1977 in New Orleans, LA.

The best Cowboys backfield in my opinion was Calvin Hill, Walt Garrison, and Duane Thomas who went to 2 straight Super Bowls winning in New Orleans, LA 1972.

I was not happy with Elliot this is the first season I truly appreciate him. He’s not complaining. He’s doing everything asked of him. And he’s doing it extremely well. I think he turned into a total football player. I’m happy to have him on my team
