The D will give up some plays and yards like usual but this year they may actually make a big play too like a FF, sack, or int. That never used to happen. If they would’ve ever watched Parsons the eagles would’ve gotten a holding call on most plays too ha.

There are a lot of new pieces on the defense. By the end of the season, if healthy, this defense is going to be fun to watch.

Through 3 games our defense has only been run on 45 times, a league low. We are giving up 4.7 YPC which is 27th worst. The OP has a valid argument. Our run defense has not been tested and what little it has been tested hasn’t exactly been very good. . . . . .02

The defense is mediocre and improving. Its a big improvement from where we were last time at this year. Last year, the team was losing receivers down the field for long scores. Now they are losing them on the flats for 15-20 yard gains. The run defense was basically a 8 lane open highway last year. This year its actually . . . good. If you look at the actual runs that got yards, they were frequently long yardage situations. When its 1st and 10, Dallas isn't getting gashed like last year.

The Cowboys are going to get back Tank, Gallimore, Joseph, DT, Neal, etc. to add to the existing group.

Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if the defense ends up ranking around 10th once the season is done. That's an epic improvement.

Please do not do crack then post.

The Dallas defense has created 8 turnovers and 6 of those are INT. The have done so with a MASH squad and facing the GOAT QB and the (currently) best QB of the last two draft classes.
Dallas can deploy what looks like the DROY in a variety of ways and has a vastly improved secondary led by a true ballhawk in Diggs backed by vastly improved Safety play.

The jr high Eagles just faced a defense with 3 of the 4 game 1 DL starters out --DLAW, Gallimore and Watkins. They also had Armstrong and Anae out.
That was with a starting LB out as well.

This Dallas defense is solid and improving as most of the above are eligible to return in the next 3-4 weeks.

Let’s be honest the Eagles coaching staff is borderline college level… Most of these guys are under the age of 40.

You know damn well that the Eagles should’ve ripped us up the middle all night.

To start the second half they ran two huge plays up the gut - That went for big yards and stadium went uh oh here we go again.

They also ran over the middle crossing routes That had us completely confused.

We got lucky Hurts missed Goeddert by an inch or he’s gone for a 50 yard TD.

Next week im pounding the middle 27 + times - and im playaction all day on Jaylon Stiff - all day .

2-1 nice start - but I’m not 100% on our run D especially with our best LB playing pass rusher.
This is why you're not running an offense.

I want to see this defense continue to work and improve but you want honesty? look around the NFL the 2 teams who were in the super bowl I don't see their defense as any better than Dallas. Tampa can't stop teams from moving the ball up and down the field nor can KC. Cowboys have given up some plays but they are making plays as well. Last season Dallas gave up plays yet made few plays. This defense is now heading into week 4 with a new DC and a lot of new faces on this team and are flying around the ball and making big plays.

You aren't wrong....

Just isn't going to be met very well around here right now.

It's not just Philly.....all teams should be pounding us inside, but they can't help themselves from being pass happy.

It's gotten out of hand.

So yeah, our run defense is a problem still but I have the fullest of confidence most teams won't have the patience to exploit it.

Mediocre? Compared to who?

Our defense has been one of the better defenses in football through 3 games.

We’re keeping points low and turnovers high. What else can you ask for?

NFL defenses aren’t very good and Dallas is playing a brand of defense that you can win with.

If our goal is just to win the NFC East, yes.

Defense is looking better, but "just not awful" won't win a SB no matter how great your offense.

10 of the last 11 SB champs have been in the top ten in scoring defense. Brady and Mahomes didn't drag trash to a title, so don't expect "middle of the pack" to get it done.

Thankfully, we're seeing improvement. Hope it continues.
You seem to be missing the fact that we are missing like 5 or 6 guys on defense out for various reasons. They will all be back 2-3 games from now.

This defense is looking a world of difference better and it will only get better.
Now of your worried that this team, like many many years past might get complacent in thinking all is dandy, then yeah need to strive to them to never give up. But it is obvious this defense is playing with more fire.

I'm pretty happy with the defense, don't get me wrong. Here are some of Dallas' defensive rankings:
Yards - 27th
Yards / play - 30th
Rush yd / play - 26th
Turnovers - 1st

I have trouble calling Dallas "good" given the yards data. Hopefully they get there though. The turnovers are great but they somewhat require the offense making a mistake. I'm not sure you want to bank on that.

...we get 3 defense players back for this game. That means Jaylon will have less playing attempts. Hate to say it, Jaylon is main Culprit for up the GUT yardage. Poor Instincts.

I’m just not as focused on Dallas only.

Are the Bucs a Super Bowl caliber team? Yep.. Their defense is bad.

well, yes and no....of those 45 runs, 3 have been 20+ yard variety and usually early in the game and subsequently we have tightened up and stopped the run...not saying we shouldn't count the long runs, but take those out and we are about 3.5 YPC.....we need to tighten up those long runs obviously, but that doesn't allow teams to be consistently running. which puts them in long yardage situations on 2nd and 3rd and makes it easier to defend and the pass rush to put pressure that leads to turnovers. so yeah, its a good news/bad news kind of thing, but mostly good news.
