True but most draft boards had him as a 4/5 round talent

Not necessarily most teams' draft boards, though. I don't worry too much about what the draft gurus say. Sure, there are some reaches, but then there are players like Travis Frederick rated a round or two later than where he was picked.

He played an entire game at RG due to Martin being out with Covid and he also comes in and plays OLine when we go to our jumbo packages. I assume that is how McGovern has been graded as an OLineman so far.

Forgot about him stepping in for Martin. In jumbo, I think he's essentially playing a TE spot, but I'd have to go back and look.

It seemed to me that we were using Kearse some in that hybrid/linebacker safety role that Neal plays. I could be wrong about that, but I believe we had him there some with Hooker and Kazee as the safeties.

Right. I think he was out there at times with just one LB, Diggs, Brown and Lewis as the corners and Hooker and Kazee as the safeties and four down linemen. In those sets, he would be considered a linebacker.

For every Frederick there's a recent Raiders 1st rounder that shows that yeah, maybe the consensus knows better.

There are hits and misses in every draft. Some would support the consensus, but there are plenty that do not. I could give you a whole list that shows that Frederick is not an outlier. I find reading the stuff draft gurus write about players to be interesting, but when it comes to rating them, they are wrong just as often as they are right, maybe moreso. They just crow about the ones they got right.

Very intelligent response from the brilliant Amari Cooper.
Not some canned bs answer.
