We are stacked at LB. I wouldn't trade our 1st even though it's going to be #32, hopefully we're not stupid like Andy Reid and waste that pick on a running back (who can't hold on to the ball in clutch situations)...

I'd do it for New England's top corner or a run stuffing DT or linebacker. People say we have linebackers but none of them can make tackles in the gap. ALA Ken Norton types.
We should trade 10 lbs for 31 year old Gilmore

Funny we have people questioning if JJ Would burn a 1st.

I call these Cowboys fans AOL fans -
Because they were probably 12 years old in the mid late 90’s during the AOL hey day .

If you can pull of an Amari-esque trade, by all means get rid of that 1st rounder. The ultimate point is to bring talent on our team. I'd much rather have Amari than what that mid level first rounder would have likely gotten us. If the team plays like this, you are essentially trading away what would be close to a high second rounder anyways for a difference maker.

At this point you would have to “assume” that if Dak stays healthy and the rest of the team is not decimated by injuries the highest we would pick would be at the lowest playoff level team. This team likely picks in the 20s, and possibly as low as 32.

That pick is not going to be worth what it was last year. And in fact if we trade for an impact player that pick will likely be in the late 20s at best for the acquiring team.

It’s not likely to happen, but the lower our pick is likely to be the more likely such a trade becomes possible.

2019
Two years ago
For a guy no one in the nfl would trade anything for
He received it at the end of 2019 . . . 2020 is 1 season . . . and now we are only 4 weeks into 2021 . . . you can hardly say 2 seasons . . . . maybe 1 and 1/4.

What about his play last year or this year makes you think he’s worth a first round pick
Now we know no team in the nfl wanted him for any pick, and surely not a first

I would give up a second but I would hope a third would be enough

This is true . . . but I would have offered something to guarantee He is on my team
And not one team did
He will get signed by some team I have no doubt
But no wanted to trade for him because then they would have lost any leverage in negotiating for him and he wants a big contract
By waiting till he’s released a team like Bucs or chiefs can sign him for less money, not give up anything and then let him walk next year because no one if giving him a long term deal
Giving up a high pick forces you to sign him to a new deal or losing a high pick for a one year rental which is just not smart

I understand this completely and I know this is how front offices operate in the NFL. . . but the Draft is not a science and many High Picks never pan out . . .
Up until recently our 2nd Rd picks have been Nothning but high risk gambles.

I see no difference in throwing a future pick away for a shot at Lightening in a Bottle this year

The top 4 rounds have a reasonably high success rate at many position
The majority of bust picks go to one position, QB. The need out strips the available players so they get over drafted. The top two rounds have a very high success rate
Diggs was a second round pick
But it wasn’t just giving up a pick but having to then extend him is why teams didn’t offer anything
