Not true. Season has started already. Players and agents know that teams that are contenders for a Super Bowl only have limited cap space at this time of the season. Players like Gilmore will look for an opportunity to contend for a Super Bowl and earn their next contract on a winner. Some place where he can make a difference and its glaringly visible. Look at what Sherman just did.

If there is a place that glaringly has a need, and is a contender......Dallas is just that. Gilmore comes across as someone that wants to be in the spotlight. Dallas is the place to be. Everyone is watching them now. If he wants to be noticed and win. Make a difference on a D that can make them great. Dallas is that.

Dont forget the rework of contracts done at the beginning of the season where it was voiced that the cap space could be used this season on the right part made available or rolled into next seasons cap!!!! Well the right piece became available and all it costs is money!!!!! Get it done.

On the plus side, you'll have a whole lot more time on your hands not rushing to defend him anymore.

On the plus side too.....we now await whose play will be scrutinized week in/week out, win or lose. What a great day of positivity!

A good bet that it's the next overpaid, under-performing player still on the roster. I'd go with Demarcus Lawrence.

I think I am responsible for 2 pages by myself. I have not posted this much in YEARS. YEARS. I am having trouble sleeping!! I even scheduled a conference call with some Cowboys fans last night!!!

Why so much excitement? Because we are actually behaving look a FOOTBALL franchise!!!
Same here!!! Lifelong fan, I will now resume giving our COWBOYS my FULL support.

Looks to me like the language in the contract is what led to this.

They didn't want to be on the hook for the injury guarantee for next year.

Am I wrong? I'm still trying to make sense of the timing though.

Jerry can't shut his mouth but he hasn't said anything on this?

It’s the roster spot and the salary and the injury clause. If they couldn’t trade him it was time to cut ties. Or possibly be on the hook for 9 million next year.
This. Plus anyone could see he's a liability on the field in a position to make plays. He fell extremely short in that area. I'm sure the coaches, players and esp. the defensive player were watching the same film rolling their eyes wondering if the FO was serious about a championship run. This move answers that question and puts everyone else on alert. Could be the best move the FO has made in years. They should have done the same thing with Witten years ago if you ask me. This also move gives our second string player hope for their future to get on the field.

Is JJ doing a yard sale now?.....watch this.....TRomo was an overpaid, under-performing player given what he was paid to what was expected, especially in BIG games......here they come.....5, 4, 3, 2, 1......

I am absolutely POSITIVE the Cowboys did NOT ask Jaylon to remove the injury clause from his contract. No way in hell they did that. That would be a massively stupid move. He would simply immediately claim an injury 5 minutes after the Cowboys brought it up. Jerry was born at night, but not last night.

I hate to say I told all those Jaylon backers so, but I TOLD them SO! Picking INJURED soon to be red shirt draft picks in the first 3 or 4th rounds is stupid as hell. So what did they get from the Jaylon experiment. One good season in which he made the pro bowl and got paid like a mother. Other than that, he's been a total waste! Hope Lessons have been Learned about picking INJURED players during the draft!
