This team looks like it’s going to get dismantled by a competent run game just likes the rams in the playoff game to me so far.

dont even want to go there...been 26 years since we been to NFC championship game....17 games is almost 2 seasons in one and is if you count playoffs ....a lot can happen...i am so glad we are both young and

we got depth....younger guys seem to heal faster....but our O line is looking top 5 and our D line is improving every week...Osa will not give job back to gallimore ( my opinion ) and the fast and lighter guys who hit

harder than our regular LB's..if we can add to back-end..like Kelvin Joseph...if he can transition and get hot later in season...our whole defense will be top 13 or 12 or better...that with top 3 offense...i would love to just at

least make it to NFC champ game and play hard...who knows??...1992 cowboys they said were a year away but they won super bowl??.....i think by the time we play rams we will be much better run defense?...just my opinion

Although the defense has improved it’s still not good enough for the Cowboys to make a deep run in the playoffs. We give up too many chunk plays. A QB like Brady or Aaron Rodgers will pick us apart. The defense has given up over 300 passing yards to every QB we’ve faced. We still have 13 games to go which gives the defense plenty of time to take another forward. The positives we’re getting turnovers and I like what I’m seeing with the DL. Trevon Diggs is developing into outstanding corner.

Once we get DLaw and Gallimore back we have a chance to make a run if we can avoid major injuries. As for our offense it’s championship caliber, we could beat anybody with this offense. We’re loaded at the skilled positions and our OL is playing well. Dak has developed into a great QB, there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind he can get it done when it matters. We have a great one-two punch at RB and Dalton Schultz has developed into a solid TE. As with every good team the Cowboys have had the past 26 years their season is going to come down to whether the defense can hold up in the playoffs.

You don’t have to have a good defense to win a super bowl in the modern NFL. An elite offense and a competent, opportunistic defense will suffice.

And with respect to your last point, that’s not really accurate. The 2007 defense was fine against the Giants, they held them to 20 points and for an offense that averaged 30 a game that year should have been more than enough. They lost because the offensive line laid an egg that day and couldn’t block the Giants.

Some of the most elite offenses in NFL history lost championships because of their defense. However we’ve seen great defensive teams win Super Bowl’s with average offenses and QBs. The Cowboys aren’t going to get very far regardless how good their offense is if they can’t make critical stops when games are on the line. It’s been their undoing in the playoffs the past two decades. Our defense wasn’t fine against the Giants in 2007 they kept picking up critical third downs. They had a long drive right before the half that put points on the board. Their defense stifled our offense. We had an explosive offense that season and the Giants defense shut us down.

This isn’t your father’s NFL anymore, the best offense in each conference almost always makes it to at least the conference title game these days regardless of how good their defense is.

And the Giants had 230 total yards that day, Eli was sacked three times and they were 3 for 9 on third down. They crossed midfield on offense only twice, the other was a punt return into Dallas territory. Outside of the missed tackle resulting in a 50 yard TD to Toomer and the two minute drive before the half they did absolutely nothing all day. The defense was perfectly fine. The issue was the Giants pressured Romo on 19 of 39 drop backs and caused him to go 18 for 36 with two sacks. Even then, they still win the game if Patrick Crayton doesn’t choke twice in the second half.

Not much has changed we saw that in last years Super Bowl. The high powered Chiefs and Pat Mahomes got shut down by Tampa’s defense. KC couldn’t even put up a touchdown. Mahomes got humbled The Giants D shut down Tom Brady twice in two Super Bowls. The 2013 Denver Broncos had arguably the greatest offense in NFL history and they were shut down by the Legion of Boom in the SB. The Cowboys defense isn’t currently good enough to go deep in the playoffs. We saw on opening night they couldn’t stop Tom Brady with the game on the line. Dak played one of his greatest games ever that night and it wasn’t good enough because our defense couldn’t make a critical stop.

Judging from the way this team is playing right now, I'd love to say they're likely contenders to beat any given team on any given day this season.

If that qualifies them as Super Bowl contenders, may it be in their future to reap the great benefits of all that comes with the players of that event.

It appears somewhat evident that there will be extensive work and improvement to be achieved, before such a prestigious honor will be probable.

Winning the division - yes, partly because it's perhaps the weakest in the NFL.
I think the team has potential of reaching the NFC Championship game but I would be surprised if we reach the Superbowl unless we get lucky with the draw.

I won't go that far out and say we are contenders. Though I will say it in some posts as to be upbeat about things. But not always 100% serious about it trying to keep the humor up on things at times.

We should win the division. But that will be as far as I go for now.
But if the keep playing the way they are, and the defense improves more. Then I will go with we should be contenders to get to the NFCCG. Again IF the defense improves more.

By that, I mean there are too many wide open receivers still. The run game is top 10 in yards given up, by virtue of they are bottom 10 in passing yards. The run defense is still giving up almost 5 YPG. That is not a SB defense.
They are allowing 12 points less per game than last year. This is from the turnovers is what a defense and contender needs to do. But they can't rely on that every game, especially in the playoffs.

They still need to get a lot cleaned up on the defense. To my liking anyway. Hebert is good, and will get better, but he is not Brady or Rogers. 2 QB's we could very well se in the playoffs. As Tom did his thing for that game winning FG.

I'm still looking for one more thing to say, yes. They've turned the corner and could make some noise in the playoffs.

I'll let you know when I see it.

No CB is a glaring weakness . . . and relying on a Rookie to come ina and save the day is beyond wishful thinking

(Sadly if the rook makes a rookie mistake to cost us a playoff game . . . He will forever be hated here and the next punching bag.)

A 2022 6th Rd pick is the differnce between a Championship and just another disappointing season

Oh well

I agree. Right now they look very susceptible to the run and the pass. They give up a lot of "chunk" plays. But they are also missing some guys. I think missing Lawrence hurts them a lot stopping the run. Lawrence may be overpaid, but he is way better than Golston who often looks like a rookie who missed all of pre-season.

They miss Gallimore and Collins too. As good as everyone thinks Steele is playing, he is not as good as Collins. Gallimore is going to help the DT depth.

But so far they have weathered the storm.
