hey stash--you commented to a guy named phillycowboysFan....can there be such a fan?....we hate the Sheagles and they hate us....or is this a guy who lives in Philly and just happens to be cowboy fan?

wow dude living dangerously

I take it as a fellow Cowboys fan stuck in ‘enemy territory’.

Here we are, two days later with Jaylon now on another team, and I have yet to see another player besides LVE say anything about Jaylon being gone.

That speaks volumes, imo.
Well, to be honest, other than speaking about how great of a person he was, what can they really say. They all know this is just a business move and can and will likely happen again to one of them in the future. I don't take anything away from them not saying anything. It's just business and I'm sure they all wish him luck on his new team.

Parsons spoke on it in Jaylon Twitter account. Said this was his Welcome to the NFL moment....he said their were no issues between him and Smith like many are saying.

He would have counted $11.8M against the 2022 cap so Dallas actually saves $5M. In addition, any money he makes with Green Bay in 2021 is actually subtracted from Dallas' dead money hit because Smith's 'guaranteed money' was against injury and not 'truly' guaranteed.

"Thanks to offset language, if Smith is signed by another team, any new compensation he earns in 2021 will be subtracted from the remaining $5.6M owed to him by the Cowboys."

So hypothetically if Smith is paid say $2M (fabricated figure until contract details are released) then that money is subtracted from the $5.6M remaining on Smith's 2021 salary thereby saving Dallas money. So, the hope is Smith signs for a decent amount so as to save Dallas money.

What's not as surprising is that NO team wanted to trade for him! You would have thought we could have gotten a 5th or 6th or 7th round pick for him. Obviously no team thought that much of him that they would use a draft pick to guarantee his services....what does that say!

It's because they would have had to have assumed his contract. By claiming him off waivers, Green Bay can give him a shot for a small amount of money. If it works out, great for them. If it doesn't, they didn't invest a lot.
