Blah, Blah, Blah.. Jerry this, Jerry That..

I realize that some on this site have to always have someone to blame for anything that goes wrong. And the easiest and lamest excuse is “blame Jerry!”

I didn’t hear many people complaining ab Jaylons contract after his ProBowl season.. na.. bc most GMs would have done the same deal, but Jerry doesn’t have a crystal ball, so NO ONE could have foreseen Jaylon’s drastic decline after that season. Most believed he was just scratching the surface of his potential and would only get better.

Unfortunately that didn’t happen.. but go ahead if you must, blame Jerry. Just know, hindsight is awesome.
Oh, there were PLENTY of us that had an issue with this contract. The ALL 22 has given fans insight like never before. And there are plenty that studied this guy and could not understand what on earth we were thinking extending him.

Notice they did not extend LVE. And I think LVE is a much better player. Fool me once........

JS is a linebacker. Physicality is not an option at this position. He has NEVER shown this, even in his decent season. Instincts, he has NEVER shown this, even in his decent season. If he was at least instinctive/cerebral, it would go along ways to mask his physical issues. For him to look COMPLETELY inept once his already suspect physical traits showed a little decline, is proof that there was really nothing ever there!

Isn’t 770 the vet “ minimum “ ? This is basically a one year tryout let’s see what you got type of contract and more then likely he ends up in another city next year. He made a few plays here his talent seemed to decline as has LVE and that’s why 6 players were taken on defense in the last draft along side CB position . So far the results look better then last year but that’s not saying a lot that was a disaster.

When you look back at the last 20 years of Jerry's big, overpaid contracts, few have worked out. At least Stephen is trying to rein in his father's love affair with paying big bucks to paycheck players.

770K is about right. This is a low risk deal for the Packers. It's the Cowboys who are still paying Jaylon millions. The Packers could risk what in the NFL is chump change. If he works out, that's great for them. If he doesn't, they hadn't invested much.

Todd Archer who covers the Cowboys says there is no offset language in the initial contract. Jaylon was free to double dip and get whatever he could on the open market. What he could get was the vet minimum. Packers are kicking the tires hoping to hit paydirt.

Back in the day Jaylon's contract looked team friendly. In retrospect it was clear pretty quickly that Jaylon and his agent came to Jerry with that early team friendly deal because they knew about Jaylon's physical regression before the team did.
If this is true. Then what are our strength trainers, medical staff and scouts doing?

Shouldn't the strength coach be able to inform management about his progress or regression in the weight room?

Shouldn't the scouts/coaches be able to assess his lack of lateral movement or change in direction speed from film study?

OR....OR...did they mention this to Jerry...and Jerry did what Jerry wanted to do?

I wonder if he has an injury clause in his new contract.

You had to know that GB was only going to give him vet min salary. Jerry has to pick up the remainder of his 7.2mil contract for this year which was guaranteed for injury back last year. Jerry's fav's know exactly
how to pick his pockets. At least Stephen was looking out for next year. Jaylon is now just a "paycheck" player week to week.

There seemed to be several teams interested (although that could have just been agent talk), so I thought that would drive up the price a little. It appears if there were multiple teams involved, none was offering more than the minimum, likely for the reason you've stated.

This is the definition of **** for brains and a piss for agent.

All he had to do was waive the injury clause and he would’ve continued getting over paid by the millions. Instead, he declines and signs a one-year deal for less than a million without the injury clause, I’m assuming.

:laugh::lmao::lmao2:

Come to find out, his eye view might’ve been blurry this whole time. Lmao what an idiot!

Let me stop before I cause LVE to have a complete meltdown.

No he wouldn't.

If he waived the injury clause, he would have been cut at the end of the season. His salary for this season was already guaranteed, so he didn't forfeit anything for this year. Smith did nothing wrong in holding the Cowboys to the terms of the contract, and the Cowboys did nothing wrong by releasing him now. Actually, they should have done this coming out of camp, but that's another story.

I can't be the only one chuckling at the irony of #5+4/9 losing his job over a 9 million dollar guarantee of future salary.

Maybe the "power of the number 9" is really a thing.

Well I will give you that the 307 yards allowed rushing versus Cleveland is pretty equal to the 273 we allowed versus the Rams in the playoffs!

While this is true, Kiffen’s defense was 26th in scoring defense. We gave up a lot of points. We were also 30th in passing yards given up and 30th in passing TDs. We were 27th in rushing yards given up and 26th in rushing TDs given up while rushing attempts against us was 14th.

2013 defense May have been our worst ever.

The lack of accountability and visibility is frustrating, but it is what it is.

No one really wanted him but his ex college assistsnt coach for the cheapest salary possible to fill an emergency need for GB . Says a lot about his abilities and how overpaid he was . 775 k salary tells the cowboys that they made the right decision moving out of next year’s obligation.
