Gregory has only flashed what he did at NE a couple of times and has never been consistent.

Before the season began, I had more confidence in the DL and not much in the secondary and that has reversed. Hopefully, Lawrence, the best DL, can help that when healthy.

Always interesting….Here are some noteworthy tidbits:
  • The Cowboys had 78 snaps vs giants 68.
  • Jabril Cox only had 4 snaps. With the release of Jaylon Smith, Cox is expected to see more action. He did make a big play at the goal line against Daniel Jones. Will he start getting more playing time next week?
  • Jayron Kearse was the only defender to play on all 68 giants snaps.
  • Micah Parsons is playing more each week. He had 63 snaps Sunday which was 93%.
  • Zeke and Pollard had a 60-40 split in PT. Zeke had 47 snaps (60%) and Pollard had 31 snaps (40%). That’s good for production and saves some wear on Zeke.
Anything else jump out?

that is odd on cix however its a positive sign that Parsons, LVE and Neal are playing so well they are keeping cox down bit and he can be brought along slower similar to Parsons in preseason and the first few games..nice to have QUALITY depth waiting to break out if needed for change..

when is Wilson back?? maybe Kearse can take a play off , jeez..hes been surprise this season..

Cox is a bit of a project and it will take some time and improvement for him to see increased snaps.

He had this unusual ability at LSU to either make a play or miss it but when he made a play, it was usually a really good one like a turnover.

Yeah Jabril Cox is still raw. I’m actually glad the coaching staff didn’t throw him in too early. He’s still got a ton to learn!

DE snaps were interesting for this game. Don’t know if it is just specific for this game or a possible trend.
Basham 56 snaps
Odig 41 snaps
Golston 40 snaps
Gregory 39 snaps

Golston with more snaps than Gregory and almost as many as Odig. Golston has really came on the past 3 games.

Could it be that Golston is very good?
Could it be that Golston will be as good or better than Odig?
I am glad both are on the team.

What does this mean for Gregory in a contract year? How high of a contract are the Cowboys willing to spend on Gregory with Golston, Odig, and Basham under contract?

Interesting to see what happens with snap counts when Armstrong is back.
Even though he theoretically doesn't have much wear and tear, Gregory is pushing 30. They shouldn't rush to give him a new deal if they can upgrade.

Thanks for posting Bob. Looks like Kearse won himself a job.

Don't read too much into these snap counts as some will be skewed due to the game being a blow out.

I'm going to assume we're trying to keep Gregory fresh for pass-rushing situations. Golston is more of a base end. He got half a sack and he's gotten a little pressure, but he's got a long way to go as a pass rusher. I would think unless he starts putting consistent pressure on the passer, his role isn't going to have much effect on whether we re-sign Gregory. Same with Basham.

Our pressure is primarily coming from Odighizuwa (a pleasant surprise), Gregory and Parsons. Other players may benefit from that, but these are the guys causing QBs to have to move.

Yeah me too. I expect to see Cox more and more as the season progresses.

I thought I saw Cox on more snaps out there too, but like discussed at Jaylon's release, I think the safeties took some of his snaps. Compare these guys vs last week and you'll probably see increases.

That's true. We did sit Gregory some at the end.

Where are we getting this upgrade and for less money? He should be discounted to say the least for what Cowboys have done and I imagine at least 10 teams staying away from him due to his past.

RG is off to a good start in a contract year, but it’s too early to tell what kind of market he may have next year as a FA. His history definitely hurts his value because in 6 prior NFL seasons, he’s never had an entire uninterrupted season.
