Appears he worked on his weaknesses during the off-season technique and strength

Trained with a ol consultant, same as tyron's, and won the off-season workout award

https://insidethestar.com/getting-to-know-cowboys-ot-prospect-terence-steele/

His length and mobility suggests he has the makings of a quality pass blocker at the next level but his erratic footwork, poor balance and inconsistent punch leads to a world of trouble against poor pass rushers in the Big 12. Unfortunately, his lack of functional strength creates problems creating push in the run game

He had one of the fastest times in the 40-yard-dash and also showed well in the broad jump and bench press

Bottom Line on Terence Steele
Terence Steele has a ton of experience starting in a power conference. Steele had a solid NFL combine where he 5.03 40-yard dash, put up 25 reps in the bench press and generally had a strong showing. He did however not perform well at the Senior Bowl and his stock took a pretty big hit. Terence Steele is seen as having 2nd-4th round upside, but will likely have to wait until day three to hear his name called. He could develop into a solid tackle given some time in the weight room and quality coaching. He has the tools, the size, and the skill to make it happen.

I don't remember him being any good at LG. The running game in 2016 didn't take off until he got hurt and Leary started at LG.
Collins was outstanding at LG but he cries like a little baby when you put him there. Quote from Collins: “Wah! I’m a tackle, wah, wah!!”

And he's playing like a 1st round pick.

Against the Giants, a lot of the runs went to the right side and Zeke/Pollard found holes and lanes to run into making their day much easier.

Steele has been playing outstanding while filling in for Collins.

I think the best decision will be to give Collins back his starting job at RT.

But, if Collins could be traded for a 1st rounder to a team that is possibly going to yield a top 15 pick (nothing less), then that should be seriously considered.

Just crazy to think how well Steele is playing.

Great job by McClay and the front office for finding this diamond in the rough
Our front office has done one great job of hitting on quality free agents!
Romo comes to mind
Miles Austin is another.
Just crazy the success we have had.

Crazy as in how crazy this FO and coaching staff was tore new one week two announcing Steele would replace Collins and this place lost it..all the know-it-alls', same ones saying how bad Cwill and Biadsz are and dont trust the coahes..it will never change..fans think and feel far too much as if they are more in the know then our staff.

NO TRADES of an OL, all the draft talk on drafting OL early and now you want to trade one of your best?

we finally have starters and quality nearly no drop off depth. seriously is 2020 so far removed from your memories you forget that mess ugh ..you dont trade players like Gallup or Collins in season unless its truly an upgrade and I mean a charles haley or Deion sanders upgrade that pushes you over the top..

now if LC has issues integrating and is playing poorly the coaches should have quick hook..go back to steele. LC already hurt the team with bonehead moves the last 2 seasons, so hes on a quick hook alert if he is not playing inspired football..mentally and physically prepared..

Steele is good, Collins is better, but Steele has played AMAZINGLY for a swing tackle.
This is my problem. We’ve finally sorted it out and have the tackle position solved.

Smith and Collins are your starters.

Steele has solidified his spot as swing tackle. Ball is the rookie in grooming. Nsehke is pretty much done. Not sure why people want to trade this away

The Venn diagram of the posters in this thread calling Joe Philbin and the Cowboys coaching staff morons for not stating Martin at RT/McGovern at RG and the posters calling for Collins to be benched or moved to LG is one circle.

The cognitive dissonance is real.

I expect that Steele will be tested well vs. the Pats and Bill Belichick.

It should be pretty interesting to note how well he stands up to it.

Leary
Beasley

I'm sure a couple of more, but yeah they have done a great job at finding talent outside of the draft

Steele is not as good as Collins…..period, end of discussion.
Steele is a surprise and outstanding compared to the garbage he was last year, but he’s nothing more than average at this point, still getting beat and needing help in pass protection, though he’s better in the run game. Average in the NFL is good. Collins is above average. This talk of moving Collins somewhere else is just silly.

It is beyond time to make McClay the GM.

Is McClay going to bench Steele and return Collins to starter? Is McClay going to trade Collins? Is McClay going to change the players at center and LG? Is McClay going to leave it up to McCarthy?

What exactly is McClay going to do as GM?

McClay is good at identifying talent and potential talent. Pay him a lot of money to do that. I think McClay is happy doing what he is doing and doesn’t care to do ‘GM’ stuff, especially if it is not for much more money.

Wasn't Collins playing left guard when he first came to the Cowboys? If so... why not put him there? The O-line would be CRAZY good.

Williams is playing well. The big hole in the line is at Center. Someone (hopefully McGovern) needs to be moved to C ASAP.
