After Romo retired from the Cowboys, and before he became an announcer, he was signed for one day with the Dallas Mavericks. He could be with the team at the shoot around and sit with the team, but was not allowed to enter the game.

The Mavericks oput ion a new floor and around the flooring, outside of the playing surface, they have every name of every player who was in a game for the Mavericks.

Evidently the Mavs decided to celebrate Romo as a team member, even though it was one day.

If this has been posted here, I apologize for the repeat.

How funny would it be if they left Rondo off

I remember the Mavs got a player from Denver who came to the club and rode the exercise bike and never suited up once. I thought it was Adrian Dantley, but after looking him up he did get onto a few games.

Derek Fisher would be another in the Rondo mode.

Yea Romo got to participate in pre-game shoot-around.

JG, Romo and DeMarco Murray use to sit together at Mavs games quite often. They also went to SMU mens basketball games.

Good (and funny) stuff.
Romo loves his hoops.
He got to practice with them a couple of times that week. Good fun and a ton of genuine compliments from Mavs players.

He had another Chicago area player/buddy, who Romo shared high school accolades, that actually played for the Mavs for a few years---Caron Butler.

I didn't fully agree with him, but Butler (who was in the NBA for 14 years) says Romo could've "easily" played in the NBA

The Championship season Butler got hurt and had to watch. I always felt of he were on the court they were a shoe in to win it all. They won anyway, but Butler was such a terrific player.

He got a ring, but it was sad how he did. Yet, JET stepped up. I think what I loved about that season most of all was when JET and Dirk would bark at each other, then he hugging later. Those guys were truly brothers.
