Bet we get some revised guesses in the “Just For Fun” thread!

Now we know where Bellichick will attack.
Let’s hope the refs call the hands to the face on the bellycheats. I see them doing it all game long. Trying to torque that neck back. Tyron has some crazy strong and fast hand skills.

He has some kind of discomfort that they feel they can manage. I would assume through massage, stretching, rest. They gave him an mri as a precaution. As they don't think it's serious but as a precautionary they will check anyway to confirm that it's not serious.

i understand what’s happening and the process with him. However based on his history, his importance, the fact that it’s a neck injury I’d be extremely pro active with rest and caution. sometimes you have to take the decision from the player as most players are willing to try and push through anything.

I’m not saying just sit him for weeks and weeks at end but with the bye next week and a game that is in no way shape or form a push over but still winnable I’d seriously look into giving him 2 weeks off.

Setting the groundwork to blame the refs? Come on now, the game hasn't even played yet.

Lol. I am just saying if they go after his neck I hope the refs call it. They are practicing there cut blocks this week apparently. They have done it 10 times in the last 2 games so they can get a advantage. I heard that’s why Quinn had the helmet on the other day showing them how to deal with it.

Yeah, I am. I feel confident with the OL players on the team right now. I still think the reward is greater than the risk. Backup plans are pretty good based on the overall talent on the offense and defense. The offense could weather the potential loss of an OL much better this year than previous years.

I also believe the play of Collins and Smith has peaked and they are on the downside. How fast they slide is unknown right now. I believe Collins will slide quicker. Smith is still playing well but that could change on a dime with injury which can't be predicted.

I also think Alarcon and Braylon Jones on the PS are going to be good backups next year. One site has Alarcon listed as an OT even though he played exclusively at guard during camp. I like the potential of Alarcon. They even have OT Aviante Collins on the PS. Don't know anything on him other than he has 4 years of experience out of Texas Tech.

I think Philbin is a good OL coach and I think he has a very good blocking scheme and is really coaching up the players. Philbin knows what type of players he needs and McClay and Team are finding them.
the only reason we can weather the storm this year than previous years is because we have McGovern and Steele...none of the others are proven. yes, steele was a rookie last year. got thrown in there. we saw him grow, learn as the year went along and how much he improved. but lets not forget it was a 6-10 season. it cost a season to get him that experience....so do we want to go through that with ball faronik two rookies if they have to play extensively, in a year where we are 4-1, looking to go to playoffs and make a run. ready to throw the year away?

and the play of smith and collins has peaked...Smith is still a top 5 LT....what else you want? the best LT in football? any of the guys on the team at Smith's level or have potential to reach that...Collins is one of the best right tackles in football. he is probably a top 5 RT....anybody else a top 5 RT potential? I am sure you will say steele, which if you do, it tells me you really don't know a whole bunch about OL play.....

none of those guys are ready this year. I don't care about next year. we are in the midst of a potential run. I and along with 99% of the folks on this board, coaches, etc. are not ready to gamble for next year.....we cross that bridge when we get there.....

This what upsets me most about the Lael Collins situation. If he took the two game suspension then we could sit Tyron and he could get three weeks off to rest his neck. Collins is so selfish.

I tend to agree with you somewhat.....I think he is most important for the playoffs, so we have to make sure he is healthy and ready there....so if along the way, there is a weaker opponent and we can give him a rest for the week or even share his load somehow, then keep him healthy for playoffs. it would be a good idea. not sure if that's possible though

I mean Collins has lost money every game he’s missed. Im sure he’d prefer those 5 game checks

If there's potential to make the injury worse, I'd rather sit Smith and give him 2 weeks rest. Non conference/division games don't sting as much.

Draft a LT round 1 if this dude misses any games this year

They will address the line at some point but drafting a tackle in rd 1 would imply that they are moving on from both Collins and Smith. If Steele continues his progression, I see him at LT and Collins remains at RT.
