Rather talk about right now.

Next season is next season.

I'm all for that.

But the people pushing for 6'3" 245 pound Parsons to be a full-time DE are overlooking how teams would attack - run right him, being blocked by a guy 80 pounds heavier. Playing DE is about more than rushing the passer, even if some fans only measure DE play by sack totals.

Some fans like looking ahead a tad too far. Why not soak up this team in it's current glory & vast improvement?!

Absolutely no way in the world does an NFL team that is serious about winning pay D Flaw 19 million in base salary next year. It simply can not happen. As for Gregory this year will be the absolute bet you will ever get out of him. It is his last chance to sign a big deal and he knows it. He has done jack squat until now. Absolutely no way should we reward him for doing nothing his whole career until now. Let him walk and draft a DE. Sign some free agents to some decent 1 year prove it deals. Lets not forget that Gregory has been an epic failure as Cowboy. can you imagine a Gregory sitting on 40 million guaranteed money? Might as well burn it.

Does Stephen Jones hold grudges? Remember when Tank was strategic when scheduling his needed shoulder surgery until he got a new deal? I bet you Zoners the Joneses remember Tank's tactics very well.

Tank is still a really good player. Right now he's the 2nd best DE on the roster behind Randy in my opinion and the Lion is thisclose to being as effective as Tank.

The Lion should play more DE snaps than linebacker. With a full offseason of DE focus, strength/conditioning, and more tutelage from DeMarcus Ware, I can see Lion transitioning from MLB to full-time DE opposite Randy as early as next year.

Given what happened with Jaylon Smith, I bet Stephen is gonna approach Tank for a paycut. He will either accept it or be released. Especially if his broken foot doesn't fully heal and allow him to be the Tank that received a $105M contract.

I may be off here, but I felt the idea is worth discussing. In an ideal world, we keep Tank and continue to have Lion used all over the place as the ultimate defensive chess piece. But Stephen is shrewd with that cap which could make Tank a cap casualty. Everyone saw how good the Lion looked when asked to rush the passer when Randy and Tank were out.

Thoughts?
The "Lion" is a DE & the "Lion" is a LB because the "Lion" is a Football Player . . . and that is His Position

You just scared the Hell out of me. . . what if this is true . . . I am over here thinking through all the Hard Work and dedication Gregory put in, that it is all paying off for Him and He is starting to peak. . . But what if its a con and He is just trying to Hustle for a New Contract

I expect us to draft a promising DE within the first four rounds next year and retain Parsons at MLB. He's extremely valuable there!

I dont think you are ever going to see Parsons with his hand in the dirt on running downs. And I dont you will ever see him put on the 15 pounds minimum he would need to be an every down DE

Parsons should be used as an EDGE rusher rather than DE.

He should be moved around front 7 to take advantage of mismatches.

But vs. teams like Pats who have no viable running threat, Parsons should be rushing the passer in 90% of his snaps.

Pay cut? Not happening. Jones didn't have to sign Tank unless maybe Luca Brasi was somehow involved.

He can be cut and we can free up 19 million. Or he can take a pay cut and stay. At this point I am ready to move on to some younger players and send him packing but if he is OK with a year to year arrangement at around 8 million per year I might listen.
