Exactly, if the play clock is 0 and the ball isn't snapped, it's a delay of game. The Pats were allowed to snap it at least twice without penalty. Would we? Nope!
that whole officiating crew seemed to miss that we got away with it once as well

New poster here! I was at the game, sat very close. Even pats fans were calling out the officiating. I never like blaming the officiating but it genuinely felt like it kept the Boys from developing a rhythm. Coupled with that was the fact that the Pats were hardly really flagged very much in the first half. It felt weird watching it live.

Hi! Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy it! *Holds out my paw to shake your hand* Hope you enjoyed the game, and yes, the officiating was atrocious.

The league office doesn't like any coach or player calling out questionable officiating. The only thing they dislike more is doing anything about it,

Two of the highest profile franchises in the league meeting in the game of the week and they choose to put that on display?

This is bad and showing signs of getting worse. The refs think they're the dog instead of the tail ever since they stonewalled the teams on the reviewable calls.

And what good is it to have another one of theirs upstairs overlooking the game?

That is one tough job and I usually cut them some slack but that was an embarrassment of officiating yesterday and while Elliott will get publicly fined, the league office needs to have some private talks with the Head of Officiating.

I have never seen this much second guessing from the ex refs doing the broadcasts and they usually try and back the refs but just this far into the season I have seen more of that than all of last season.

Part of that has a simple solution, activate the chip in the ball and put up the force field along the EZ and take them out of it. Hell, they could have fireworks hooked up to the alarm and sirens and lights when a TD is scored.

Why are the refs so untouchable? I truly don’t understand it

They can make biased calls or make glaring mistakes on a regular basis, and they’re not ever held accountable. As a player or coach, you’re fined for talking about it
It is mystifying. Weird dynamics in NFL front office.

I can back any first post that includes calling out terrible officials. Welcome.

All I ask that that fouls called at the LOS, like holding, are more consistent. These type fouls are momentum killers and when it seems like one team is getting nicked for them more than the other it can change the outcome of the game.

It really was bad. How Dak didn't score on that first QB sneak is a total mystery

It's no real mystery, especially with a ref standing right over him under the pile. They deliberately did not call that a TD. One, because any scoring play will be reviewed like that. Two, we would have to use a challenge to review and no way on earth they were overturning it. The refs at Foxborough have always been like this. It's disgusting. But sadly, Goodell and his cronies protect these refs from any backlash. They don't have to answer to any of this. Dak gets hit in the head/face twice and nada. We get all these phantom holds. NE was holding constantly and nothing. Their first TD was a clear push off (we have gotten that called against us plenty).

It's one thing for the refs to be incompetent both ways. But to be obviously slanted to one side and not even try to hide that? Outrageous and nothing is done about it (Maybe because this is what the league wants)

The NFL is ran like the mob. You don't dare go after the setup in place. You speak out and you face the consequences. The refs are Goodell's people and I solely believe they have a job in place to create outcomes they want. Refs fixing games has already been proven in the NBA. I have zero trust in the NFL, especially Goodell. I have seen WAY too often Brady and the Pats get so many favorable calls that can slant the game, especially the 2018 AFC title game against KC. There is a reason these refs are part time and protected by the shield. They don't have to answer to anything at all. They literally show up, do their game and go back to their regular job. How the NFLPA allows this is beyond me. But I guess as long as the money flows in, people look the other way.

I know people will call you a tinfoil talking about refs but yesterday was not even close to the first time this has happened. There has been stats on our holding calls vs opponent's. It's ridiculous.

16(now 17) regular season games a year...

And??? You don't think these refs need to be in there studying the rule book, watching film on every single play of their games with missed calls and wrong calls? Please. But that is the point, they don't. They literally ref their game and go home with zero accountability for their actions.

Refs are gonna love hearing/reading about this. This has been known for the past dozen seasons or so. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if they get called even more against Dallas.

NFL Press Conference...

Media: So, we see that the NFL has added a new team to the NFL.
Goodell: Yes. We went on ahead and made it official, so to speak.
Media: So, what is the new team's name?
Goodell: Well, we wanted to go with The NY Jackasses, but the players objected. So, we went with a compromise.
Media: Yes?
Goodell: We went with the obvious name, The NFL Zebras. We did work the original concept onto the helmet logo.

If I was a ref and I wanted to help one team over another, and still keep my job, I would call every little ticky tack call I could against the team I wanted to lose and miss one or two glaring legit penalties against the team I wanted to lose.

The cumulative effect is that 90 percent of the time the team you want to lose will lose and people will give you the benefit of the doubt.
