Does Stephen Jones hold grudges? Remember when Tank was strategic when scheduling his needed shoulder surgery until he got a new deal? I bet you Zoners the Joneses remember Tank's tactics very well.

Tank is still a really good player. Right now he's the 2nd best DE on the roster behind Randy in my opinion and the Lion is thisclose to being as effective as Tank.

The Lion should play more DE snaps than linebacker. With a full offseason of DE focus, strength/conditioning, and more tutelage from DeMarcus Ware, I can see Lion transitioning from MLB to full-time DE opposite Randy as early as next year.

Given what happened with Jaylon Smith, I bet Stephen is gonna approach Tank for a paycut. He will either accept it or be released. Especially if his broken foot doesn't fully heal and allow him to be the Tank that received a $105M contract.

I may be off here, but I felt the idea is worth discussing. In an ideal world, we keep Tank and continue to have Lion used all over the place as the ultimate defensive chess piece. But Stephen is shrewd with that cap which could make Tank a cap casualty. Everyone saw how good the Lion looked when asked to rush the passer when Randy and Tank were out.

Thoughts?

Fact is that the players (and their agents) are incentivized to break the bank to the fullest extent possible, they could care less about the team's salary cap. Teams are incentivized to cut players loose the moment their value doesn't match their salary or a cheaper solution becomes available. As a league, the NFL is incentivized to maximize profit and cram as many freaking commercials they can into that 3 hour window, not to mention their whoring themselves to the media and anything the media can demand in the form of "public opinion". In the end none of that is making the NFL better for the fan, but even when they're losing ratings they can still find new ways to monetize so they're not going to be hurting for cash anytime soon....

So how much should he be making? Clark & Miller today aren't putting up big sack numbers either.

DeMarcus Lawrence $21.0
Frank Clark $20.8
Von Miller $19.083333
Trey Flowers $18.0
Cameron Jordan $17.5
Arik Armstead $17.0
Shaquil Barrett $17.0

Its not about how much to pay him....his performance has dropped....he is on the downside of his career and the Cowboys have a lot of really good players they need to pay next year,.. C. Wilson, Gallup, Gregory, Neal, Kazee, Kearse C. Williams. Rather sign 2-3 of these players than 1 DLAW....he aint worth the 27mil cap hit next year.

Thoughts? I think I'll wait til the off season to worry about this! Lol......some people just can't help themselves....5 pages and 1 like for the OP probably proves my point.
I didn't post this thread for likes, lol. I posted it for discussion. Given the way we have seen Stephen operates, this thread is quite plausible in my opinion. D-Ware >>>> Tank and he got cut (then he went to Broncos and won a ring :(). I saw Emmitt Smith in a Cardinals uni. Jerry fired Tom Landry if I recall correctly.

Let's not think for a second that Jerry won't show Tank the door if he felt like he's not living up to his contract. Especially consudering Tank held Jerry hostage when he got his 2nd contract, as I alluded to in the OP.

Cowboys would be better with Tank, but heads were turning left and right when we all saw what Parsons can do with his hand in the dirt as a pass rusher. At #12 overall he's looking like a steal.

For the same reason Jaylon Smith was let go, DLaw would be released as well. He'll have to perform well once he returns. Jaylon was given a few games to justify his remaining on the roster... he failed. Likewise, DLaw will be on the same path. If he fails, he will be gonzo. ;)

I don’t agree. I think every situation is totally different. And I think Jaylin was released to make room. Not just because of his talent. Or they would’ve waited till the end of the season. Everybody thought it was because of cap money and they would use it. But they haven’t yet

The "Lion" is a DE & the "Lion" is a LB because the "Lion" is a Football Player . . . and that is His Position
I’d rather he be called a tiger. Much more agile. Lions are lazy. They with everybody else do the work for them. And that’s not Parsons

Parsons is too small to be a full time DE....

Is this thread all about pushing a new nickname?
I have never heard Parsons called the lion.
That is the dumbest nickname since HotBoyz...

Can we clone Parsons?

If we don't keep Tank. I say free agent or draft one with the first pick. Also may need a true run stopping defensive end. I'd also like a run stopping linebacker. I think that's one spot that definitely needs addressing. Parson maybe the answer but I haven't seen it yet. Run stopper.

**Ahem**

Randy now leads the Cowboys in sacks. Looks like he is building momentum too. Impressive.

I keep pointing out that he's 6'3" and 245 pounds but it falls on deaf ears. We have fans who think DEs only rush the passer.

You put a 6'3", 245 pound guy at DE and I'm going to run the ball at him all day. Let's see how well he holds up to 325 pounds banging on him.

Now if you want to use Parsons to rush the passer on 3rd and long, that's another matter. I'm down with that.

I d rather move number 11 around to create mismatches. As far as D Law goes, he needs to step up. The team should always be looking to improve the roster. Continue good drafts and that will take care of itself.
If you hit on the draft regularly the cap is a non factor
That’s how important the draft is
Dlaw and Gregory will be DE and parsons will be moving around to create mis matches on rush downs
A DE in the draft is so hard to get unless you pick high or find a diamond in the rough
But we could use a DT, OT, maybe safety depending on if we can keep our safeties
The key is just getting good players no matter the position. A real stud DE won’t be easy picking last in every round next year
