I definitely agree a coach will run a certain play from a certain formation 2 or 3 times to set up a play down the line where they get into the same formation and then do something entirely different.

But I sure would like to hear the logic behind how that final TO of the first half is setting something up later on...
Also, they don't tend to run plays that they know won't work, and risk losing games, just to set up to win a game later in the season.

First of all there are tons of plays every game that have low percentages of success. These are different than early game situations where you push the envelope but don't show too much. I just have a feeling that he's got some other stuff going on in his mind. Not that it's all cohesive up there.. not that it all makes perfect sense.. but I think he's got something in mind.. We just don't know what it is..

Some of these unorthodox decisions have me thinking that McCarthy might be doing a little "crazy like a fox" dance on the NFL. Could he be making it so that the proverbial book on him in these situations starts to look like kindergarten scribble? I mean he can't be this crazy.. unless it's like a fox.. as I said..
Im trying to give MM more credit but I can not go this far.

The more I listen to his weekly coaches show and interviews he sounds like big dummy. He’s not illiterate like some players come off but that deep, kinda slow big guy sounds like a dummy voice.

I think he’s been studying analytics while he was off. And he might think he’s a fox but the element of surprise is over. We are going for it. Wow. Landry must be rolling over in his grave.

I dont think its just McCarthy...NFL Teams across the board are going for it more and more on 4th down, and clock management continues to be an issue across the NFL....but Crazy Big Mike coaches for the Cowboys so its highlighted more often...

I wonder if they have changed the defensive penalties so much that teams have to go for it, as they can't stop anybody, or if the penalties have changed the game so much that there is an positive expectation on yards gained per play? Particularly, all the penalties called in the modern game on the secondary.

Maybe he’s trolling Jethro? Now that’s something I could get behind. Lol

The OC and DC are rudders. The special teams coach is an oar in a boat. Mike's job is to stand there and manage the game. Of those two main responsibilities, he does his best at standing there.
MM has one other talent:

Yup. After winning the SB w/ Rodgers he got jealous how much attention Rodgers was getting and then purposefully lost games for the next several years as vengeance towards Rodgers. Took massages during team practices and got lazy - it was all a play to run himself out of GB and get hired by Jerry Jones. He then gained weight in an attempt to out-sly the NFL and fooling other coaches into thinking he wasn't as smart as he was. And now he's purposefully making dumb coaching game decisions to fool the NFL into thinking he's dumb only to unleash his secret weapon in the playoffs which is normal common sense calls a coach should make.

This man is the smartest man in the NFL and he has the NFL in his back pocket.

Kind of hard to blame GB's lack of playoff success solely on him since I recall a depletion in talent that McCarthy had no hand in.

Look man I don't know if you noticed but my post was a question not a statement. I honestly don't know what to make of the way McCarthy is managing these games.. I'm just trying to find a way to make sense of it other than he's just an idiot because frankly I don't buy that one..
To be honest, I just went if the tittle and a word or 2

I think going for it on 4th and one is a cocky style of play that the players embrace. They have confidence they can get one yard and he has confidence in them and tells them so when they go for it. If your offense is 29th in the league because of a lack of talent, you play it safe. That isn’t the case here. I like the going for it decision. Fans call for “swagger”, well, there it is. Ask Dak or Zeke if they should punt whenever it is 4th and 1 in their own end of the field. Success breeds confidence, timidity breeds doubt. (I just made that great phrase up). Even if they don’t make it, they had the confidence to try.
Now, some of the clock management (or lack thereof) is a bit puzzling.
