Dak is a top x QB? Let’s ask Drew

So applaud Dak for 9 career 400+ yard passing games but its the defenses fault for the record? I see how it works.

You do know that is ACTUALLY correct. If any teams defense would do their jobs, it would be no reason for a QB to throw for that many yards. Just saying!

And just so you know, I am not a homer, a Dak grouppie, a Dak apologist or a Dak hater. I absolutely understand that this is a team sport and a believer that the QB should not be solely charged with the “L’s or W’s” in a team sport.

What I absolutely know is that Dak has grown and improved over the years and is now one of the best QB’s in the NFL. I absolutely support him and every other Dallas Cowboy.

And to comment on individual stats, they show how good a person is at their particular position as compared to others. And those stats show how well they contribute to a win or lose.

I might be a homer but I would have to agree. I might take Mahomes, Brady, Arod over Dak but I would be hesitant about doing. I think Dak is that good.

Mahomes play over the last few games is scary. I don’t know if Dak has ever had a stretch of games like that.

Agree with you but you put Mahomes behind this line with these Wrs and Zeke and he could be scary. But like I said, I would be hesitant though. Dak is great leader who knows how to win. I like that in a player.

their OL is not half bad.......but yes, Mahomes would be awsome in this offense....

Playing very well. Top tier. Ranking these guys at the top is matter of opinion to a certain extent.

Ranking him really doesn't interest me. Cowboys are winning games...the team is fun to watch again.

And Dak is a big part of that. He's just fun to watch. That is all I care about. (along with the winning part of course!).

As another poster mentioned.. coming from a fan who said paying him was a colossal mistake. He has been nothing short of amazing. This game was a masterclass.
The moving around to improve passing angles, the bootlegs, passing on the run.
The 4th and 4 pass, the 3&25, the game winning pass. I never thought he would play this well. Even last year when he was collecting garbage time stats, there were times where the ball was behind the receiver or just misplaced in general. He has become more accurate, forget just the numbers it passes the eye test.

Dak was a 4th round pick for a reason. Shows you what brains, work ethic, and talent looks like when it comes together. Easy to coach, not a diva, acknowledges and works on areas that need improvement. Puts a field in his backyard so that he and his receivers can work together year round. The man is committed to winning and LOVES to play, so there was never a concern that he'd get paid and slack off.

Look, Marino never won a SB. Takes more than just being a stud QB to get there and win. Even great coaches with stud QBs may (or may not) win just one (Brees/Payton). Dak will NOT be the reason we don't go all the way (if we don't).

There's my take.

‘He’s a Top 3 QB in the league right now, the way that he’s playing, the way that he’s leading his team’

—Drew Brees

I’ll take his word for it. He’s more qualified to speak to the issue better than anyone here, so……
Truth

I am a man of my word... I never questioned his work ethic or love of the game. I questioned whether he could play at the level he is playing right now. I never thought he could ascend to being a top 5 type player. That was my only issue with making him the highest paid qb in the league, nothing else. At the end of the day, if the Cowboys waited until his 5th year to pay him , the QB is who he is. Dak has surprised me personally. Didn't think he could play at the level he is playing this season.
Last year to me was just poor game situation and a cascading downward spiral, I didn't take much from his gaudy passing numbers last year as the majority of it was from being down.

There are some very good QB in this league that any team would be thrilled to have on their team. In my view Dak is one of them. I'm very happy to have Dak on this team, how others choose to grade them be it Murray, Stafford, Mahomes, Allen, Brady or Rodgers is no big deal to me and frankly when you compile a list of QB different people will give you different opinions. So for me having a quality QB is all I care about not how he rates in other peoples minds

Dak is tier 1/elite. The QBs in that area for me are (in no particular order):

  • Dak
  • Brady
  • Mahomes*
  • Jackson
  • Wilson*
  • Allen
  • Rodgers
Virtually any of these players you can put into an offense and do amazing things with.

I put an * next to Mahomes and Wilson because they both do something I cannot stand - bail from the pocket too soon. It's exciting and they're good at it, but I'd hate to be an OL on their team. Rodgers did it a lot early in his career too, but got way smarter about it over time.
