I have the impression that Moore isn’t in a rush. Him not taking the Boise job tells me that. So I think that he won’t take just any job and wants to be ready when he does. He hasn’t been coaching in any position for all that long. I think he wants to be as prepared as possible to be successful and knows he has time to do it right.
Taking the right job ensures a chance at success. Why do you think the "Great," Phil Jackson turned down many positions to coach after leaving the Bulls unti he got to walk into the Lakers job that had two of the greatest players to ever play in the NBA on the roster?

You think Urban Meyer never had a chance to coach in the NFL prior to this year? Why come to Jacksonville? Oh, IM thinking the long haired rookie QB might have had something to do with it.

Be a young guru, take a job coaching the Bears, or the Lions, or the Dolphins right now and see how many years before you get fired.

Its amazing to me how great the Cards coach is.... bahahahahhahahahahahahaha

My guess.... nothing more than a guess on my part, Jerry will have a talk with Moore and et him know..... hey Kellen, just be a little patient and your time will come to take over America's Team.

On the other hand, he could claim credit for "discovering" Moore, which is a powerful Jerry lure.
funny thing is... JERRY DID discover him, or at least hire a very young, very unproven "Kid," to be the O coordinator. But of course, we know nobody will ever give Jerry credit for anything that goes right around this place, will they.

Funniest thing to me is that so many in here think that 79 year old Jerry gives one damn about what anyone thinks of him. Man is worth 8 or more Billion dollars, is a ROCK STAR at every stadium, practice, function he attends, has 3 SBs, owns the most visible team in sports, answers to absolutely nobody... and you think he worries about taking credit for Kellen Moore....lol Hilarious

Kellen wants THE position,... not just A position. whether that could be 2022,.. or arranged for 2023 ..why go to Eagles or Texans or Detroit when he can have THE HC role
with a rising franchise QB in hand, along with McClay continuing to supply the wealth of personnel talent ?

Such a non answer, he just put a bunch of words together that would try to end discussion without actually addressing the issue, along ways away could be the off-season
yeah he cant tell the truth, he has to give a statement that wont offend jones, and any future suitors.
It is stupid to ask him about it now, but the media people are just that, stupid.

plus coaches are not going to be giving any thought to future jobs, during a season......unless they dont like where they are at.

Essentially. Smart of him to dismiss it while he's in the middle of a season. When the teams come calling, it might be a different story. Frankly, I think it's in his best interest to stay and learn for a couple more years, but it's hard to resist when someone wants to make you the top guy.

Am I the only one who thinks it would be premature for Moore to be a head coach? I mean, he's really young, and he hasn't been an OC all that long. I think Jones needs to find a way to entice him to stay. Coach's money is not part of the salary cap, so just pay Moore some absurd amount of money, more than he would make anywhere else as a head coach, to get him to stay. Then whenever McCarthy is done, Moore will take his place.

It doesn’t matter how long he’s been an OC, is one of the best offensive coordinators in the league already. And every great coordinator needs to be a rookie HC sometime. He’s going to get his shot once good opportunity presented itself.

McCarthy is perfectly replaceable. The only good argument for keeping him is the fact that we’ve got a contender right now, but we’re not a contender with McCarthy calling the shots and Moore someplace else, anyway. Not a real one.

All this fussing about Kellen's chances of becoming our HC goes for naught, as long as he's in control of his own life (and he is!)

That was my thought, too. Slippery answer. Thanksgiving is a "long way off." Heck, I'm hungry and lunch seems a "long way off."

Still, there's no cap on coaches' salaries. Jerry should open his wallet and buy his championship by bringing in a world-class coaching staff. KM wants to leave for a 10 million a year coaching job? Double his salary to stay. I've always been shocked to see that Jerry hasn't flipped coaches' salaries over. He would be at an immediate advantage over cash-strapped teams. The only thing that prevents that is his own ego. I don't think that he thinks coaches are the real difference makers. IMO

I wasn’t sure who is the youngest coach in the league is or was . Thank you for that
I'm not sure if McVay is the youngest. That's my guess though
35 is pretty young for HC

Boise job would have been comfortable but a step down. Head coach in NFL would be a step up.

That depends on the individual. He’s a hero at his alma mater and would certainly be held in high regard there.

And there are plenty of teams in the NFL that are a worse situation.

I don’t know if he was ever in the running for the job. I have friends whom live in Boise and the talk up there was that Boise never consider him. It was just something that Aikman said and the media ran with it. Of course this could also be all false too. So who knows.

Keep in mind that any time a new coach is selected or player is signed, it's always "He's who we wanted all along." Nobody will admit that they settled for their second or third choice.
