Okay, but that's not saying much.
If you bar is "just be better than Jason Garrett, Wade Phillips, and Dave Campo" then your bar is way too low.
You should expect MUCH better than those guys.
Jason Garrett had rookie Dak and Zeke sitting at 5-1 through 6 weeks, but MM is some kind of genius for having Dak and Zeke in their primes at 5-1 through 6 weeks? Again, expect better.
Why should we expect MUCH better than those guys, who hired those guys?
This is a business that turns over 20-25% of their HC's every year and the time leashes are getting shorter, great HC's are in short supply. Are Reid, Payton and Carroll great or do their QB's make them look so?
I know what I do on the Couch but I really do not know what being a HC in the NFL entails and just how much is hands on or delegated. We see these people at practices or on the sideline during a game and make judgments based on limited information.
Each HC runs his ship his way and I would say McC deserves a solid B+ or A- so far. Yes, the sideline management is questionable at times but the man is an offensive minded HC with his team at the top in yards and points and 5-1 with a 3 game lead in his division.
As far as judging the job of the HC with the Cowboys, we have a little twist to that because we really do not know what goes on behind that curtain. We do not know if McC really wanted Moore as his OC or Quinn as his DC. What we do know is there is a direct connection between the HC and the comfort he gives the owner because that's how the previous one kept his job.
Ask not if we could do better and assume we could do worse....because we have and could have done that again. And some of you wanted Urban Meyer.
