6 weeks in. 11 games remaining (12 for those that had a bye week)

Weekly Disclaimer on this statistical ranking
This does NOT say which QB is the best.....ONLY how they have played so far this year in the first 6 games.

"Combined Stats" just means using two key stats that --when combined--almost always point to the QBs having the best season (the eventual All-Pros, MVPs, etc)

Those stats are:
1) Standard QB Passer rating
2) Total TDs (Rushing and Passing) - Total Turnovers (Fumbles lost and Interceptions)

Here are the QB Rankings using Combined Stats after 6 weeks:
(* have had bye week, ** missed games )

  1. Murray (tied 1st)
  2. Stafford (tied 1st)
  3. Wilson **
  4. Brady
  5. Rodgers (tied 5th)
  6. Cousins (tied 5th)
  7. Prescott (tied 7th)
  8. Allen (tied 7th)
  9. Winston *
  10. Mahomes
  11. Burrow
  12. Herbert
  13. Hurts (tied 13th)
  14. Wentz (tied 13th)
  15. Bridgewater
  16. Carr
  17. Ryan *
  18. Jackson
  19. Mayfield
  20. Garoppolo **
  21. M Jones (tied 21)
  22. Darnold (tied 21)
  23. Heinike
  24. Tannehill
  25. Goff
  26. Roethlisberger

Risers: Murray, Rodgers,
Fallers: Herbert

Razor-thin margin between #5-8.

As always, some who don't see the results they like (positively or negatively) might attack the method.
It'll sort itself out over the course of the season.
Remember that after week 1, Rodgers was 30th or so, for example.
Stats have a way of self-correcting.

And they are.....just stats

LOL.. it's kinda comical to see the rookies lined up at the rear.. And people were screaming for the Cowboys to tank and draft one of them. The mind boggles at how clueless people are when it comes to evaluating the QB position. They act like rookies just come in and play like Dak all the time. I think Dak is one of only like 5 or 6 rookie QBs to have a winning record since the merger. But all these college darlings were supposed to step in and be better than him.. Hilarious.

Yep.

Two fold
1) they are rookies....and rookies generally su.., uh, I mean, are bad ...lol (see even P Manning or Aikman)
2) rookie QB usually go to teams with awful offenses....which is often why they were taken to begin with

fwiw
Dak got dropped into the best Oline in the league (and a record 3 All-Pros) and the league-leading (and All_Pro) rusher
Herbert also landed in a good spot too, though his line was a bit messed up, he had the weapons

Truth is the best narrative!

False narratives like you responded to are the norm in todays world!

To be fair, the rookie QBs are on HORRIBLE teams.

They all don't get to be on a team ready to compete like Dak was his rookie year. He was a 4th round pick for a reason. That reason was we didn't need a QB, but then Romo and Moore got hurt and Dak was able to come in and take over. We were going to be a top team in 2016 if Romo was the QB also.

Looking good for the long term QB outlook. Murray cementing himself as elite, and Stafford seems to stepping into those elder statesman years nicely

Also thanks for the effort compiling these

Here's where Dak sits is various stats after 6 games:
  • 4th in Passer Rating
  • 10th in TDs-Turnovers
  • 5th in Passing Yards/game (volume stat)
  • 7th in YPA
  • 2nd in Completion % (hard to judge unless YPA included)
  • 16th in ESPN "QBR" (not a fan of this stat)

The thing that separates Dak from most rookie QBs even Herbert was his decision making and how well he took care of the ball. What was it like game 6 against Green Bay before he threw his first INT? That is just ridiculous.. Over the last three years we have seen him try to find the balance between being aggressive when it's called for but still taking care of the ball. He's not perfect in that regard but he's damn close. I think as long as the defense is able to keep teams from running away Dak will continue to be a low turnover guy. If we fall way behind and he has to take more chances I think we will see some turnovers but the dude is like 3rd in NFL history in TD/INT ratio. I'm so glad he's our QB..

More than that FOR ME what separates him is unselfish play and taking what the defense gives.
He clearly can throw for 400 yards any week he chooses but he will ride the rush game until the defense steps up to stop it.
He's bossing games in pre-snap even versus Belicheat.
That maturity is why QBs don't hit peak until 2nd or 3rd contracts.

Calling the game is a really big portion of what a QB does.

Dak is down WR2 with WR1 playing injured. He's been absent his starting RT 5 games.
So statistically life will almost certainly get easier for him after the BYE with La'el and Gallup back but we've won 5 in a row anyway.

Herbert has a cannon but does he manipulate defenses to take easy yards? Def not. He just hits tight window throws. When Herbert gets that mental part of the game whewwww....

Once again, the stupid/crooked officials hurt Dak by refusing to call an obvious TD when Dak QB sneaked the football over the goal line from the 1 yard line. This forced the following play where Dak had the ball hit from his grip as he tried to reach over the pile on 4th and goal the following play, resulting in a fumble that was recovered in the endzone by the Patriots. I'm so glad Zeke called out them crooked officials. Enough is enough. Yes, Zeke will get fined, but it was worth it and much needed to get addressed.

I didn't say anything about Dak. Stick to the point.

My point has nothing to do with the cowboys at all. It's the ignorance of using rookie QB's on bad teams as a way to say "I told you so".

You clearly MISSED the point. The point was that these rookies are performing about where I expected them to be. YET a bunch of people on this board screamed that we needed to draft one them and move on from our record setting incumbent. THAT was the real ignorance...
