Garrett's Garrett and I'm glad he's gone, but their offensive line is trash and Barkley has missed all but 3 or 4 games.

Even a creative OC wouldn't do much with that bunch.

and lost literally every pass catcher lol

I Just didn't understand the Jason Garrett hire in New York after tens years playing against his offense that was so predictable....

I think the Giants are cleaning house after this season from the GM down
Relationship with Mara. Garrett's rise in the NFL was all about relationships his Dad established and he carried on. It was just assumed smart guy from Princeton, football family, he'd be a natural.

Garrett learned from watching Turner but he never had what Turner had, a balanced team with a defense that he could rely on. Garrett is not creative or inventive but he did have a QB that was and that helped keep his job for 10 years,

That was a dog's behind job when he took it and being an OC was not even in his 5 or 6 best coaching skills.

Again, JG needs to go coach College football in the Northeast: Princeton, Rutgers, Penn St.
His process stuff would work great for a constant change, emotionally charged environment like college and he could hire recruiters and scheme folks.
He'd represent the school with class and make the alumni happy by posing for pics with his Super Bowl rings.

Worse decision: Splitting with Jimmy or giving the keys to Garrett for a decade?

I'd argue the latter. Handicapping a generation of talented players with this level of coaching is easily Jerry's worst decision.

The Garrett fiasco was excruciating but It's Jimmy by a landslide. Jimmy masterfully orchestrated a roster & staff that dominated the NFL's best for 5 consecutive years.....would've been 10 if not for Jethro's foolishness.

After the way Paterno's tenure ended, PSU could use the boring, never wandering eye of Jason Garrett.
I think he'd win there at about the same clip as Franklin without fielding job offers every successful off-season.
Could go in there and last 20 years building a robust and well behaved program.
He'd almost certainly bring in Sean Lee to run the defense.

Some of us saw that. Others saw the next Tom Landry.

Some even convinced themselves that X’s and O’s mean nothing and we just need better players as if coaching and game plans didn’t matter and allowing the other team to basically know our every move was ok.

But we always tried really hard Catch!!!……

I saw a stat the other day that shocked me, since the 2017 season, the Giants and Jets have the worst W-L record in football, I would have bet that Jacksonville held that record...

Giants - 19 -51
Jets - 19-50
Jacksonville - 23-47

I can’t imagine you’d find too many Penn St. fans (or admins) wanting JG to be their HC. Doubt he could recruit anywhere near the level that PSU would expect, either. I could see Princeton giving him a chance out of your list, that’s about it.

I suspect that will be his next stop. The ship has sailed on him getting another head coaching job in the NFL anytime soon. Because of nepotism he'll always have some kind of NFL job, whether it be OC or QB coach. But if he wants a head gig, he's going to have to be off to college.

Jimmy wanted out because he was tired of working with a lunatic owner. Jerry created that situation and it will always be his biggest mistake.

As for the salary cap, tell me what players Jimmy bought to win those titles? The way to beat the cap is to draft well. He was the best at it at the time.

Both sides had problems and humangous egos.
Didnt work out for Jimmy also after he left Dallas , he was never the same coach , Isn’t he ?

The game has passed him by though he never grasped it to begin with.
He is NOT an 'X' and 'O' guy. Not sure why the Giants thought he could be an offensive coordinator. He is a "leader" for teams that are stacked with talent. His teams will play hard IF...IF...they are talented. If they are not...you can kiss the season goodbye.

I am not a Garrett fan and couldn’t stand him while he was here.

No OC could succeed with the pieces the Giants have on offense. Mission Impossible. They needed to stay healthy and hit on all their draft picks and FA pickups. They didn’t.

Now they are looking at a total rebuild of players, coaches, and front office.

As a Michigan I hope Penn state hires him someday…
