You beat me to it.

Big Game James nailed it.

Connor Williams was more than solid against the Patriots. He definitely showed he deserves to be starting. It looks like Connor keeps improving week by week. It's a shame because some other team in free agency is going to reap the rewards by season's end of us building Connor Williams up the past few years.
4 penalties? Lol

9 penalties all year? At this rate he will break the record for penalties.

Your hero looks terrible.

easily the weakest link on the line. McGovern needs to replace him.

And look at Biadasz handling his business and getting better and better.

Williams’ set of physical characteristics are better suited as a OT. He is not that strong, he is tall and has a thin build for an OG. We have discussed this for years. He should be tried at OT. From his physique, he could make a very good swing tackle. I think playing McGovern would be closer to putting the best five olinemen on the field at one time. Apparently me and the tens of thousands of fans that want to see Williams moved from the OG position are wrong. Oh well, it happens.

On one of those holding calls. He was holding two people back. He grabbed the one behind him. I think he was solid. I truly believe it was Belichick Speaking to the referees before the game getting them prepared That’s the only way he could beat us. Was watching the film saying wow. We’re screwed
Williams is famous for getting beat and holding.

Solid player but he won't get a new contract here unless he takes a major hometown discount. highly unlikely.

He seems like a G and T tweener. doesn't have the length for T and doesn't have the strength for G. I think if he were a viable T, he would have been playing it in some form or fashion long ago, at least as a backup option to shift to if someone went down.

Left Guard gets help from the center. Probably gets more help than any spot in football. And he is beside Smith. He needs to be replaced.

On the drives where he was penalised I think we had
  • Missed FG
  • FG
  • Interception
  • FG
That shows the kind of impact these penalties had. And when you add that to the multiple missed conversions in short yardage (by no means all on him) then it paints a very ugly game.

But it is one game, the body of work over the season is pretty solid overall. Way too many penalties, a little weak in the run game and he lacks nastiness but over all he’s fine. I’m not sure he’s a big step up on McGovern though, McGovern was better week 1 than CW was IMO but O-line is one of those positions were you only really get a chance when injury strikes or problems are consistently piling up. Not sure we are there yet, but IMO the Patriots game was a step in that direction.

I am harsh on Williams. I re-watched the Giants game last night. I missed most of it a couple weeks ago. Williams played really well. He was matched up against Leonard Williams most of the game. LW is a load. Connor had some trouble with LW's strength but he held up well enough. He excelled as a pulling G all game. The guy is a good athlete. Also did a nice job blocking into the second level. I think I might be too harsh on the guy.

As an aside Randy Gregory was a mule that game. Giants sometimes had 2 or 3 guys on him. He just destroyed that game plan. I don't want to ever hear Gregory isn't strong enough at the point of attack or weak in the running game. That is complete garbage. The guy is an all around defender and a potential game wrecker.

Either that or a backup -- there are no guarantees with a FA. We'll see.

the league is starved for good OL. He's been a starter for 4 straight years with limited injuries and on winning teams, with at least 2 of those years being one of the better OLs in the league.

If he can't get a starting gig somewhere in Free Agency he should fire his agent.

You can do better than Williams, but it's hard to find that. Lot more likely that you will do worse.

the negative perception comes from watching stronger bull rushers who send Connor flying backwards towards Dak.It doesn't look good. Why are we unable to rush touchdowns inside the five yard line against the Pats. I dont know
Especially with their 'heavy' formation including a quality guard.

Martin, Collins, and a guard-heavy 'tight end' definitely would prove fertile grounds for Moore.

I think CW was a tackle at Texas. A great 1 at that. I agree. Lets try him at tackle. I say he's a candidate 4 the next swing tackle.

I don't think Connor Williams is terrible. But I do think his position can and should be upgraded. The Patriots don't exactly have studs at DT and in this video clip Williams is most effective blocking LBs and safeties.

His problem is when he has a big strong DT right in front of him. Both he and Biadasz get overpowered.

This video clip shows a pretty average LG who makes a few good blocks and misses a few. We can't have an all-pro at every position but they can do better than Connor Williams. They could also be fine with him, but they will struggle at times. Weaknesses like the Cowboys LG and C will show themselves in big games.

This isn't personal even though we are criticizing his playing ability. It is just an observation about his performance.
