Steele faced Joey Bosa in his first start and shut him down.

He’s continued to play at a high level in all five of his starts.

Steele is unquestionably the most improved player on the team.

On Zeke’s longest run of the year Steele pushed the defensive end ten yards down the field clearing the way.

but they are in sync at this point of season,
This is what gets left out by most when opining. The OL needs to play as a unit, at least the guys on either side if each other. Just plugging a new talent into a spot, even if it’s a better talent, doesn’t automatically make the line immediately better. That’s not an issue with Collins for Steele since Collins has played next to Martin for several years. But replacing Williams is different, especially with a still developing Biadasz at center. It would be a different story if Fredbeard was the center.

Yes they whacked him across the face twice.. You can't do that to the QB.. unless of course the QB plays for the Cowboys..
Yep. The early one when T Smith was called for holding (or was the hands to the throat) was blatant. The defender’s arm came down on a chop and hit Dak’s head. It wasn’t slight or a graze, it was full a fledged hit. I don’t expect refs to see everything, but the back judge’s focus is on the QB and OL and rarely do hits to the QB get missed. Obviously, he was concentrating on holding in that game.

Just an observation- I'm almost scared of the old guys coming back and messing up what we have going on.. I'm not so sure that collins is going to play as hard as steele has been playing.. If I'm being honest, steele looks quicker right now. I'm almost worried about "Now I've been paid" Tank Lawrence and what he might do to disrupt the chemistry. I honestly hope all of you are right and we instantly become better, but I'm not so sure the old guard has the zest these new guys do.. Like maybe they're past being coach-able..

I rewatched the game today and Judon got the best of Steele on at least a dozen rushes. Only Dak's athleticism kept it from being a sack. Count me in the camp that can't wait to get Collins back. People need to just accept that the borderline all pro is better than the inexperienced but scrappy kid..
Finally....something you and I agree on. But still dumbfounded at you suggesting Travon Diggs would shut Terrell Owens down

I watched corners with less skill than Diggs shut T.O. down.. It's not my fault that you only remember his great games.. I remember all of them.. T.O. always had problems with guys who were his equal athletically.. because he was used to being the bigger, faster, stronger player he never truly developed as a technician. What worked in his favor is that he was 6'3" 225 pounds and had ridiculous top end speed. So he could outmuscle and outrun 95% of the guys he played against.. He couldn't do that to Diggs.

Collins and Martin on the right side will be a nightmare so long as we know Collins came back to play. The way he missed last season and then got suspended could make this topic irrelevant.
.
The much bigger question is can La'el be trusted to take care of his business?
With Steele’s performance in his absence we might see a little Zeke-Tony Pollard situation where he takes things a bit more seriously.

Diggs has not even shut down ALL of the guys he's faced to date. And NONE of them are TO!

True Diggs has not shut them ALL down.. But he has kept ALL of them out of the end zone.. I know some idiots will claim he gave up a TD against the Pats but most sane people know that TD was on Kazee. You wanna worship T.O. then fine.. He got shut down plenty in his career.. again by guys not as talented as Diggs. Sorry that bothers you but that's the simple reality of it.

Why would you say this and then post a video which clearly shows that all Steele did was execute a turnout block at the line of scrimmage? I don't understand the logic behind misrepresenting what we can see with our own eyes? Please explain..

I'm reasonably confident that the staff will make a decision who to start when La'el returns to active duty. It's been standard procedure to allow the former incumbent starter to return, although, the staff will see who's doing the best job and possibly make a change if they see fit. Otherwise, La'el will likely be retained as the starter. Those who see them on a daily basis should know what to do far better than any of us. They're in charge, not us.

Reports were Collins wasn’t looking very good in training camp. However, some reports were that Steele wasn’t looking very good either and he’s played very solid so far. We’ll see how Collins plays when he returns.

Steele has done a great job and deserves credit, but he is not on Collins level.....I think he will really be an upgrade.
I was po'd with Collins' behavior and wanted Steele, but a better player is always warranted. Hope he gets it done! At least we have a dependable swing tackle.
