People bash Mike because his in game decisions. The chemistry on this team is great, but he needs to stop getting cute because these choices can almost cost us like during the Patriots game where we went for it on 4th down on our side of the field in the 1st quarter. I don't think he's a bad coach, but I don't think he's Belichick where he's the one crafting the system that is making everything go. If he has great assistants, then the team can do great things.
No one is Belly. Not a good comparison using the best HC of all time.

Barry Switzer has a ring on his resume and Troy Aikman said the team was really run by assistant coaches and veteran players. He also said Switzer was not the same college coach he knew as he was now laid back and didn’t instill any focus or discipline. Moose Johnson said on camera in a documentary that they won the Super Bowl in spite of Switzer. That sounds like a pretty average coach according to his players. I do think Barry was a better time manager than MM and I don’t remember him ever punting from his own 32 yard line. I give MM credit for letting the assistant coaches and players do all these good things.
Troy was a whiny crybaby after JJ left and never forgave Barry for benching him. Barry also has a couple of college rings....

And if that holds up then he will receive due credit. But our concern is when it really matters like in the playoffs this could cost us.

+1.......agree with this but my issue is posters/fans calling for a new coach after this season or wanting him fired to avoid losing Kellen Moore. But I agree, the margin for errors in the playoff is razor-thin. He won't get away with reckless mistakes.

Only thing I see him get bashed for is his clock management and questionable in game management. Which he should be bashed for.

I can tell you that I never expected MM to look so lost with clock management. Looks like he has never done it before.

Just read an article where Jon Gruden and Sean Payton were saying it's not as easy it seems. A lot of issues go through your mind/head with little time to make decisions. Jerry said yesterday that MM and coaches even practice different time management scenarios for games ( I didn't know that). When you think about it they (coaches ) have what, 30 seconds to a min to make most decisions.

Honest question....do think he confers with his assist HC, and/or coordinators for their input?

The Moore issue is more complicated. We’ll have to wait and see how that plays out.

@CouchCoach provided a reasonable solution early this week and insight I hadn’t considered. He said that in the event McCarthy proves his value with our success he could become a desired HC again around the league which could have been an incentive to take this job.

And that might have been part of the arrangement initially . Assuming Moore is the desired long term intention of Jethro in which he’d hate to lose this might provide a pathway for both parties. McCarthy could be released to seek another team and Moore promoted.

There’s a growing feeling that Jethro might take any means to retain Moore once the offers start coming in after this season. Going to be very interesting how it plays out. And much could ride on how this season concludes.

It definitely presents more drama than you’d think after a potentially successful season.

...wouldnt that be something. ;)
A really want to see Big Mike do this for the Cowboys. We are long overdue for a Championship and I see nothing else to do but root for this Man.

Interesting........I mean if we make the playoffs and win at least two games ( NFCCG ) that scenario would have to have a lot, and I mean a lot of moving parts for MM NOT to return as 2022 HC (LOL).

Like I said, depends how it ends.

What if we lose in 1st or 2nd round. And what if it’s from a 4th down decision or time clock Mgmt.

Several different scenarios season could end. Dak could get hurt again. We just don’t know.

Shoot, we could win it all and Mike decides he wants to ride off into the sunset.

It's highly doubtful that if we make it that far that Jones wouldn't try to keep all of the pieces together another season.

Show me the HC that was perfect and didn't have a weakness but the good ones overcome that with their strengths.

Most would consider Andy Reid a complete HC but is he? Does he lean too heavily on the QB and pass and consider defense secondary?

I agree that some of McC's sideline game management is questionable but at the same time he has his team playing at as high a level as any team in the league. And not many expected this, if any.

Do I consider him the best, the most complete HC? No, and I didn't at the time of his hire but I did consider him the best available hire based on this front office and where the team is.

What I don't know about McC is did he really want Moore back and did he do that to get the job? And did he can Nolan and go after Quinn or was that done for him? Because those two decisions are critical to his success this season.

There is only one HC that I would take hands down over McC right now, the one I consider the best HC in the game, John Harbaugh.
