I prefer the wait one more year.

Something which might factor into that decision for Moore is the free agents at the end of this year. Who will be retained, and who walks. The roster, as it stands, is really good. But there are some decisions which will be made that could affect the outcome next year. Moore will need to consider that. He doesn't seem to be in a position to warrant his approval on who stays and who goes. Not certain what weight to apply to this situation.

But I disagree on his value. The duo of Moore and Prescott, as they target the weak spots of the other team seems near flawless. I think Kellen leaving would have a pronounced affect on the offense. I see nothing in the wings which suggest they have the replacement.
I did not say that Kellen leaving would not be a loss, but rather the opposite. I said they have the talent to win with another good coordinator but it will not likely be as good as Kellen's play calling is compensating for player and coaching mistakes.

I mean two turnovers in the red zone and a missed field goal and they still managed to score 28 (7 belonged to Diggs/defense) offensive points. I cannot imagine many other OCs could manage that.

No ..... The point is that all of those guys had at least twice the coaching experience that Kellen does ....... Do some research, it's not just his age, it's how long he has been coaching.

So extra years means a better candidate? Gotcha.

Whose offense is it?

It's Kellen Moore's.

It takes from multiple offenses including Boise State under Petersen, Linehan in Detroit, Linehan under Garrett (which is just a rip off from Norv Turner) plus innovative trends around football (not just NFL but college too).

KM employs analytics much more than Garrett.

And while team appears balanced offensively, KM is not a slave to balance in the offense.

He attacks the area that opposing team leaves exposed.

He has to say something along those lines doesn’t he? It’s not like he has any choice when it comes to promotions. I feel like kellens gonna be the next coach here, but will he be mcdaniels or that vato from the rams remains to be seent

What I would have said is ..

"We are focused on this season with the coaches and players we have and we are excited to see what happens. We will worry about next season after this season is over."

It's not very hard ...
This thread would still exist.

Yes but he was hired at the age of 40 years old.

Rams hired Sean McVey at the age of 30 years old.

Steelers hired Mike Tomlin at 34 years old

Raiders hired Lane Kiffin at 31 years old.

Tampa Bay hired Raheem Morris at 32 years old.

The point is there is numerous examples of younger coaches being hired as the NFL is transitioning towards younger coaches given a chance as HC's.

Tom Landry was hired by Cowboys at only 35 years old and with zero HC experience and only 4 years as a DC.

Landry went straight from playing field to DC and led the best defense in the NFL during his last 3 seasons as coordinator with Giants.

Was considered one of the great innovative minds of football at the time, lack of experience and all.

Now saying all that ...... He may get hired as a head coach ...... But I would not be really worried about it till he gets some more skins on the wall.

Problem is once they get skins on the wall they almost never become available and when they do Jerry either won’t pay or his ego is too big to work with someone like that.

The open jobs will be Las Vegas, Miami, New York Giants, Houston, and Denver. Dark horse opening in Seattle.

Maybe Denver is interesting. Seattle would be interesting. I’m going to say Moore isn’t offered either and stays in Dallas.

If Kellen bolts I'm sure we will run the same plays because I'm sure Mike has already made a copy of all them. Lol But having the plays and knowing when to call them? That's what concerns me about someone else running the same offense.

The Jones will open up their wallets and give Kellen a raise to keep him. And I'm sure that Kellen is not yet head coaching material just yet. I think he's the type of person to work on the Xs and Os and draws up plays. He doesn't seem to be the type to want to manage everything about an NFL team.

If they let Kellen leave without having to try to keep him it goes to show how dumb this FO really is.

In the 90s our decline started when we could not replace Norv Turner and Mike Zimmer. If we kept both coaches I believe that dynasty could have longer successfully and either of them would have ended up being a coach of the Cowboys.

Cowboys won a SB with Norv's replacement, Zampese.

They also won a SB after replacing Wannstedt.

Zimmer was a Cowboys assistant for all of the 90's and into the mid 2000's.

Jimmy Johnson was the key to the 90's dynasty.

And all the talent and depth he cultivated.

Giants will definitely go after him.

Colleges will be after him too. USC and LSU have openings.

One thing we know about this league is things change fast and you have to adapt to stay relevant. The hot coordinator of yesterday may very well become the unemployed head coach of today.

I certainly like consistency and it would be nice to retain Moore, but I ask the question is he a commanding force in the locker room? A big part of head coaches job is motivating and bringing the team together. We know Moore can dial up plays, can he lead the team and whole operation? Is he a product that benefits from having excellent personnel or does he elevate good into great talent?

We really don't know those answers at the moment, but at some point we'll find out.

I don’t think the Giants is a good job. I am going to guess Moore will not be interested. As far as college, if he didn’t go to Boise then I don’t think he is going to college. I think he is happy in Dallas and it will take a lot for him to leave. My guess is worthless in reality, though.

As much as we don’t k ow how KM will be as a HC and my preference would be to keep things as is next year (even if we have to pay KM big bucks), if a choice has to be made I’d keep KM over MM. last thing I want is the offensive players having to learn a new system
Mike did say in a PC this year that his goal was to have Dak play in the same system his entire career, because he'd seen that work with Favre and Rodgers and he thought it helped them to never have to learn a new language.

So I assume even if they hired someone from outside the organization, the new OC would be the one learning the current system.
