Still getting robo calls

I've installed anti-spam phone software, but I still get BS calls. The latest one is a recorded voice, "Hi, this is Officer Scholls ..." and then it proceeds to tell you (in text-generated, bad grammar) that there's some kind of arrest warrant out for you. Man, I'm sick of this. I think everyone is.

What I want to know is who do we report DoNotCall.gov to for wasting taxpayer dollars?

I'm sure. I used Dr. Scholl's all the time. They should be really happy with me.

I get them on my cell and I get them on my work phone.

As annoying as they are, I occasionally will mess with them for my own amusement. I figure if they want to waste my time, I will waste a bit of theirs. They usually wind up hanging up on me. Although recently I got one aggitated enough to drop the nice voice and retort with go blank myself before hanging up. Made my day.

I remember seeing interviews with different people about robo calls. It didn't matter what age, gender, race, or whatever, EVERYONE hates them. It may be the one thing everyone agrees on across all boundaries. Robo calls suck.

Was talking with a friend about the Car Warranty scam. Still get at least one or two a week. The friend said that one would think that everyone has to know it is a scam now and they should quit calling with it. I said, they must still be making some money or they would quit trying it.

Yes, they're shotgunning. I can guarantee you that 99 percent of the people know that the car warranty thing is a scam. But if they can get just one fourth of one percent of the people to fall for it, they can make money. But then that's why they make so many calls. They have to shotgun them out there to get just a few prospects. It makes me annoyed with phone companies because they could shut this crap down. They could see in their stats who's abusing the system. No person and no legitimate organization would be making the massive amounts of calls those bozos are making.

I got one of those calls, maybe. They said they were customs and they had illegal contraband shipped to me in my name .. and if I sent then money they’d forget the whole thing… I thought that was nice, but declined their offer and said “I’d pick up the illegal contraband.” They hung up…hmmmm.

They are getting worse. I get them at home, on my cell and I even get spam text messages. On my landline, I use a device that let's you block area codes and it is very effective, but the spammers are using number spoofing to avoid these blockers. The phone companies could easily end number spoofing but they won't for some reason.

I have a blocker on my phone which I pay for. It is $3 a month and it is partially effective, but a lot of calls get through.

I know one thing, none of the spammers pay attention to the government do not call list. There is a $10,000 fine for every call made to a number of that list. I have reported dozens of numbers but I have never seen anyone get fined. There are too many loopholes to the law.

I thought Ajit Pai did. He used to tweet about all the progress he made to stop spammers but I haven't seen any change other than it has gotten worse.

Arent they all in developing world countries where there's no hope of getting cooperation from the government?

I think it would be better to announce that the electricity and communications system in any town these calls come from will get a drone strike. Encourage the locals to deal with them if law enforcement in these places does nothing.

Anyone over 65? I am getting dozens of calls now from various medical insurance sellers. It is harassment. The call anywhere from 8:00am to 10pm. It's non-stop and in every case the number is spoofed. I Have an app that can block every call coming from a number not in my contact list but I am currently dealing with a medical issue and I an getting calls from my doctors's offices. I cannot block all my calls. I hate robo-callers.

Here's a funny one.

Wife of a friend works in a Court office - issues summons/bench warrants etc for criminal trials. Recently got a call in her office from scam caller saying they had an outstanding warrant etc. etc...........confitm details etc.........before being told that they were ringing the court office........
