Pretty much a "call out" thread but I gotta say kind of neat reading through the thread again with today's knowledge.

It’s still a bad contract. Regardless of how good he is playing.

Dak’s contract is bad for just about any QB not named Mahomes and it looks like all those Chiefs high salary contracts are catching up.

What Dallas did right was find a bunch of guys for dirt cheap and sign them to 1 year deals. Something they have never been good at.

Also, the last 2 drafts have been home runs and that is hard to do what they have done.

Every off-season could make or break this team for awhile unless the cap shoots up.

They managed to upgrade this team for very cheap this off-season.

They really should’ve done this earlier and I blame Zeke for stepping in line. Cowboys gonna be down this road again in two years that’s gonna cost a lot more.

Yeah.. It’s way to early for I told you so’s.

Paying QBs these awful cap crushing contracts really hasn’t resulted in championships and Nobody besides our fans will care about a good regular season in a year or 2.

With all that said. Dak has reached a level I didn’t think he was capable of. He’s still bad value though.

A QB with no championship getting a 40 mill a year contract? Ouch.

It is market value for a franchise QB soon it will be the low end for a franchise QB

I don't know if it is a $50 million mistake or not but paying Dak $40 million for basically 4 years is going to hurt because in 4 years Jerry will need to sign an even bigger contract. It would have been nice to sign Dak to a longer term deal so they could plan long term for the rest of the team. Just when Dak's CAP numbers hit the roof, guys like CD Lamb and Trevon Diggs will become free agents. QB salaries are out of control and at some point the NFL will have to address it.

Yet he will not be the last other FA QB coming up will surpass his deal. Few years back I though 35 mill a year avg was outrageous. Teams without a QB know how tough it is, as a Cowboy fans seeing this franchise over the years faced with trying to find a QB was tough. I agree 40 mill hurts, as does 50 Mill by Mahomes or 43 that Josh Allen is getting. Bottom line you pay or you start hoping you can find a QB, I have seen many teams user multiple 1st rd picks looking for that QB and still not be able to hit on one

LOL. Didn’t Josh Allen sign a bigger contract. In a year or so Dak will not even be top 5.

#12 - You will not bump old threads for any reason.

In case you didn’t know.

LOL.. I freely admit I have never actually read the rules on any forum. I shall try to remember going forward.. But make no promises..

Yeah.. Just because other teams are doing it doesn’t mean it works. Nobody is paying QBs and winning titles. That’s the problem.

A lot of these guys are getting these deals and their teams eventually become trash and they try to jump ship.

Hopefully Dak is the guy to break the trend and someone like Kyler Murray doesn’t keep the trend going.

Cowboys made the right move signing Dak.

Made the right move in what sense?

I said before we signed him that even signing truly elite QBs to massive contracts isn’t good.

Dak needs to actually win something.

I’ll admit that so far I am wrong about him reaching a level of play I didn’t think he was capable of but the whole QB contract thing is a separate issue.

I’m not a fan of paying any QB that hasn’t won a championship. If they have won a title then by all means reward them but overcoming a QBs salary is difficult regardless of how good they are.

Geez guys. It took me a while to figure out this was an old thread.

Don't bump old threads. If anything.....make a new thread and put a link to the old thread.
