I think how this season goes will have a lot to do with what the team chooses to do. If your claim is he is lazy and just coasting after getting his deal, then I disagree.
You have to consider the supporting cast. We can look at all the stats in the World, but there's no doubt this current defense is more talented and Lawrence would have more freedom to make plays. The vast majority of his career, it's just been him.

Yeah people spend a lot of time talking about how Lawrence's production has fallen off since he signed the contract but never mention the fact that back when he was putting up his best sack numbers he was playing alongside Malik Collins and Tyrone Crawford who, while not all pros, were at the very least solid. Lawrence will be really good when he gets back.. and his presence is going to make life easier for Osa, Parson, Gregory and everybody else. To hell with stats.. he positively impacts the game.. You actually have to watch the games to see it.. and clearly a lot of these people don't watch the games but come in armed with the stat sheet to support their narratives.

Gallimore was reportedly having a great camp and was being considered as the breakout player prior to his injury.
Lots of players have great camps. His game tape shows he is a jag. Osa is the best interior pass rusher on the team.

In 2019 Lawrence played with Maliek Collins, Robert Quinn, and Antwaun Woods.....debatably a better group then the ones he was putting up sack numbers with.

I doubt Dak would approve.

I agree DLaw is a force, but even a blind person can see he plays nowhere as relentless as he did in his contract year.
i bet he would he needs healer to bless his leg

The problem with Dallas IMO is not the 3 fore mentioned names. It's our DT's. We get no pressure from up the middle. Nor do they protect our linebackers. Teams run the ball the runner is smack in the face of our linebackers and safeties before they can even take 2 steps. Until we fix this problem our defense will be average at best. Get me a dominate DT and watch out. He doesn't have to be a Donald. But get me a at least a Lett. Then we can talk.

Woods and Collins were the same DTs who were there in 2018.. And there is nothing debatable about David Irving being orders of magnitude better than Antuan Woods. Do we think maybe having the Irving/Woods tandem inside contributed to Lawrence's career best sack total in 2017? Maybe even as much as the proverbial "contract year?"

I never get the Lawrence hate. I wish people would look past the numbers a bit. The guy is a disruptive player. Get pressure and stops the run. On top of that he's never really truly had a guy opposite him to help rush the passer.

Third downs with Gregory on one side, Lawrence on the other, and parsons lining up over the center? that's going to create problems for offensive lines.

Oh not all of the criticism of Lawrence is unwarranted. Some of it he brought on himself but not for the reasons you might think. Holding off on the surgery until the 11th hour in 2019 cost him a proper offseason which lingered into the regular season. Then getting the knee rolled up in the season opener last year didn't help. He was a warrior and played through it (probably because he felt guilty about the holdout) but it was clear he was playing at well below 100% basically until the bye week. Once he got healthy he was able to do some damage last year. Just look at his TFL numbers, fumbles forced and QB hits after week 6. People have a tendency to ignore stats when they don't suit their narrative but Lawrence made a ton of impact plays once his knee got right last year. I fully expect him to do similar damage this year when he gets back.. Espcecially having more talent around him. I can't wait to see what happens when teams leave him one on one the entire game.. I think he could threaten Derrick Thomas' single game sack record.. I hope he can make it back in time for the ATL game.. I'd love to see him turned loose on Matt Ryan with one guy trying to block him..

There is no doubt in my mind that the cowboys will move away from Dlaw after this season.. He simply is part of the old regime and needs to be let go so we can move forward with high output players for way less money... He is a major disappointment when it comes to his health and his output... He will be gone!

This team needs him this season, however, just like Jaylon telling himself that he is a leader, and elite and all that crap, ran around faster in that game...I hope he does not come into the locker room and mess the whole team up with all that "Hot Boyz" crap.

Because to be honest, the Dallas Cowboys have not accomplished anything so far, but are heading in the right direction and there is nothing HOT about the defense, and they know it and are getting better for it. He got paid to make a difference, not to bring all that nonsense into the locker room. The culture of this team is changing for the better and I hope he does not try to influence his presence.

By culture change... his attitude to us fans after he got paid and didn't play to our expectations and we let him know about it on twitter and other media sites..."Hey, F all yall..." His words to us fans.

Coaches don't worry about long term. They are in it for the short term. Owners arent worried about long term either until the player is signed to a 2nd contract.
Yeah I’m not referring to long term as in years, I’m referring to if he can hold up an entire season at DE.

heck Gregory and Parsons are lighting up offenses without Lawerance....so IMO Lawrence just has an excuse....now its show or go time....Lawerance needs to get healthy and back on the field....or he will be a cap casualty in the off season.

Have to remember DAK cost 40Mil against the cap now....and they have to pay Gregory and a lot of other players on the last year of the contract.....Do you keep a high price Lawerance or keep the younger guys

He's also young and has plenty of room to improve, so we'll see what he is. Odighizuwa definitely appears to be miles ahead of what we saw from Gallimore as a rookie. However, Gallimore is a solidly built, powerful player with some burst, so he could reap some benefits of lining up between Osa and Gregory or Lawrence. I look forward to seeing what the nickel combo of the four of them can do.
