Open Mouth or Open Trade

Jerry Jones says Cowboys are always open. So does "open" mean his mouth or a seat at his gambling table.

Go get either Quinnen Williams or Ed Oliver. The Jets are done this year and if they do not trade Williams this year, he will be on the table next year. Ed Oliver is playing out of position in a 3/4 defense he is a luxury player with the Bills. DT that can run stop and pass rush is a must for this team. Oliver only has 12 tackles and 0 sacks for a no.1 defense. He may not get a 5th year option sheet. However his athletic ability is on par with Aaron Donald.

Then trade for Josh Allen DE/OLB Jaguars. He has not done anything since his Pro Bowl year in 2019. But the Jags are done for and may be open to a trade. He would give the Cowboys a legit rotation at DE and can play LB free up Parsons more. Allen is faster than any LB on the Cowboys roster excluding Parsons 4.39 40yd time.

These players need a change of defense and scenery. I do not see the Cowboys given a no.1 pick for anyone but Q Williams. I think Oliver and Allen can be had for a bargain as neither has done much this year for their teams.

Everyday when I come on here for the first time I hope to see a thread about them trading for a defensive player only to be disappointed. Not disappointed by a great deal but just a tiny little amount because my expectations are basically nill until Jerruh is worm food. But, it would be nice to see them do something big to try to make the team better. Arizona brought in several big name free agents and are sitting undefeated right now. Why can't Jerruh and co bring in just a couple??

There is another side to that. All the players mentioned would cost us day 1 picks and then some. Williams and Allen will both probably cost us a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd. Buffalo isnt going to let Oliver go for less than a 1st. So there is a very cost to doing this trade. We almost did it with NY for Jamal Adams. That trade likely would have cost us Lamb, Diggs, and Joseph at best. Parsons instead of Joseph at worsr

If we trade away draft picks for some other teams lazy overpaid trash I will lose my mind.

I will accept a trade if it involves D Law or L Collins and we are the team getting the picks.

With the stable of defensive players coming off the IR, all you people dreaming of sugarplums and candy, and a DE and DT will find you are wasting your time.

Patience and understanding is what is called for these days. The defense you see today will not be the defense you will see Thanksgiving and beyond.

A football game is much like a boxing match. Unless you are Mike Tyson in his prime, you are learning in the first few rounds where you can attack. The middle rounds are when you put the guy away.

So too a season, especially one where you have defensive starters out for the first six games, you wait and see what kind of team you have after.

Dallas beats teams because Dallas has the best offense in the league and and a defense that is timely. Once DLaw and Gallimore, and Hill and Armstrong arrive, that defense you see will be vastly different.

Now consider Gregory and DLaw, and a solid interior Dline, and Parsons picking his hole, and there will be many more plays like Gregory's, "Opps, I broke Mac Jones."

Relax and enjoy the ride.

The Cowboys aren’t going to take on long-term salary due to their cap situation, if they trade for a player it would be for a player on the last yr of his deal.

Key words in your post are “great deal”

unless they can get a great deal there is no reason for a trade….with the way this team is drafting as of late even mid round picks are panning out…

don’t just need to bring in people to bring in people

I know for sure the Cowboys coveted Oliver while Maranelli was here as reported by Dave Helman and Eatman. I would imagine this coaching staff is quite pleased with Odighizuwa and wouldn’t want to hamper his development.

I’m intrigued by Josh Allen and I’m still a fan of Chaisson long term. Jerry has acknowledged the team was going to draft him had CeeDee Lamb not fallen in their laps. The coaching/scouting staff obviously thought highly of Chaisson.
