Dak being limited with his mobility due to the calf injury may have influenced the decision to get more stout in the middle also. Not the only reason but one of many

No way. He’s got a good contract. A team would give up assets for him.

He’s got value.

Quality offensive lineman are NFL gold.
At worst Collins will be the starting left guard next season. Collins is the 3rd best linemen we have.

So... is this Mike McCarthy doing these things?
I know we all give his game management the side-eye, but if he's making these uncharacteristic roster changes...
Should we sing those praises in his name?
I have no problem giving credit where it's due. Is it him? Don't know... But in his second year, they're certainly doing things that are out of character, and I like it.

I give McCarthy some credit here if he's trying to establish a culture, and Collins is being punished for his foolishness acting like Rodney Dangerfield in 'Back To School' attempting to bribe his way out of problems...

So much for those of you who said Collins will be the starter at right tackle when he comes back, McCarthy said he'll be on the bench as a backup.

Let him replace Williams and lets roll. I love the fact this staff just don't roll over for the players.

You also said they should have moved Martin to tackle when Collins got suspended at that the team was making a huge mistake by not doing so. You think we forgot that?
He’s an analyst, want to be. I said this , I said that . I say three to one wrong. I mean you have to be right once in a while

Yep and I also told you that if Steele was great I wouldn’t regret my opinion based on the information I had.

I still don’t regret my opinion either..
Way to protect yourself. Good for you lol

My respect for Big Mike just increased immensely.

Collins will be a solid backup to Steele.

Two things happening here IMO.
1) They are sending a message to Collins to grow up. They need pros. They need men they can count on being there. Injuries can always happen, but they can not afford to lose players for off field issues and Steele appears to be someone they can count on. If Collins wants to start... grow up.
2) They could have decided that they are simply gonna play the best 5 and Steele has played very good and they are strongly considering moving Collins to Guard.

In any event, im glad they didnt just put Collins back as a starter though I suspect he will be starting in 2 weeks, one way or the other.

I'd also give him credit for simply recognizing Steele is one of his five best performing linemen and he needs to be on the field. The fact you don't get to screw up and be assured your spot is definitely a good thing though. The young guys on this roster are hungry and pushing hard. Vets can no longer afford to be complacent.

McCarthy said they were going to start the week with Steele at RT, not Steele will start in the game at RT so let's stop perpetuating something the coach did not say. LC could easily be the starting RT once they get to Minnesota.

Oh stop with the logic.. The "punishment" theory is so much a better story.

This might have already been said.....but it feels like the Cowboys are show casing Collings for a possible trade....Steel is really set in to the position, much cheaper and less a headache off the field..... Collins missed all of last year and 5 games this year.... Do you trade Collins....RT are hard to find

No one will trade for Collins.

Hes not the same player he was in 2019.

His contract is poison. Hes due 30 million over 2022-24.

They will keep him as a backup and then cut him in the offseason.

This is an easy bet.

I'm actually very surprised they are working Collins at guard.

It's the right thing to do, which is why I'm surprised.

Still getting used to that around here. Wouldn't have happened under Garrett.

CMgov is the backup at G.

Collins adds depth at T and maybe G.
