No. 12: Dallas Cowboys - LB Micah Parsons
Grade: A-

Parsons is a different cat. He's a 6-foot-3, 240-pound off-ball linebacker by trade -- mostly -- who was thrust into a role as edge-rusher in the first month of his NFL career, and he's played beyond his years as a pass rusher.

That is not to say Parsons didn't show edge-rushing capabilities at Penn State. He did. But I wasn't of the belief he could flourish in a predominant outside pass rusher role in his rookie season. There have been the normal rangy sideline-to-sideline tackles we all want to see in linebackers. There's so much juice to his game, which is quite amazing given his thick frame.

Parsons has a ways to go learning the nuances of coverage, and he hasn't quite shed blocks as effortlessly as he did in the Big 10 -- imagine that -- but the Cowboys should be happy with their first-round pick at this juncture.

I agree with the assessment. His coverage skills is his biggest area of opportunity. I refuse to knock him on it though. We've asked him to do a lot as a rookie, and he's been one of the bright spots on the defense in his first year. No complaints here. Can't wait to see more of him.

Only a few hits in the first round, and thank goodness we got one of them. Especially considering our 'great success' at first round linebackers. Also equally amazing that we probably have the best pass rusher in the first round.

A lot of disappointed buyers in offense this year. Lucky us for going all defense this year. That has to sting to get a top 10 QB and realize you may have to go at it again.

There are differing philosophies on how to build a team. The Cowboys do it primarily through the draft. Look at the Cowboys now... the proof is in the pudding. Parsons isn't just being talked about for rookie honors, he's being included in discussions for league defensive player of the year.

Whoever wrote this doesn't watch the Cowboys play. Problem shedding blocks? You could fill up a highlight reel of Micah shedding blocks.

This guy lost all credibility when he gave Darrisaw the same grade as Parsons. Darrisaw was just whipped by Gregory and has only started 3 games. Then he has Toney as a B+ for what? Chase is good but he has not had the impact that Parsons has had for the Cowboys in Cincinnati. I have specifically watched Slater when the Chargers play because I wanted the Cowboys to draft him. Good player but I don’t see his upside like Sewell.

I wish the Draft Show crew would do a previous draft review to see how the players they scouted were doing. I mean they talked about them for almost 5 months, seeing how their predictions panned out would be fun.

Sounds like a good idea.
Why don't you email a few of them and see if they would do that.

Going to guess the others, I already figured Parsons. I will edit this comment afterwards and see if I got it right.

My guess of those who are an A (be it A -, regular A or A +)

Would be

Rashawn Slater
Patrick Surtain
Mac Jones,
azeez Onjalari (Giants guy/spelled that wrong for sure)
Kyle Pitts.
Ja'marr Chase

Edit: Holy hell, their grading is very harsh. I like it because it means not everybody is getting a passing grade but jesus. I made a mistake. I thought the Giants had 2 first round picks and one of them was on Azeez. I was also going to put Toney, but figured he didn't start too much
