The pass rush silver lining is Parsons and a bunch of guys with no tape

I'm assuming we're going to see at least a taste of Parsons rushing the passer this week but there are also some guys who could see elevated roles who the Falcons will have little or no scouting report on. One guy who I would send after Ryan from a wide 9 stance at least a half dozen times is Kamara. Even though he's obviously raw and doesn't possess Gregory's repertoire of moves he is the only true DE on the roster with similar speed and skillset. Bring that dude in after letting the o-line has dealt with more power rushers like Gholston, Basham and Armstrong I think it could bear dividends. As the old saying goes, speed kills. Quinn needs to find some situations to take advantage of that speed. The rest are kinda the same guy.. including Anae if they bring him up..

I agree Kamaras an unknown commodity but his motor and his body type says he might have the most upside and energy to wreak some havoc..it would be interesting to see him with soem extra snaps..

They got to come up with something cause the talent level from Gregory to the rest is humongous.
Kamara - super raw
Golston - a rookie, no bend got a ways to go.
Basham - barely a jag
Armstrong - dont even know how he's on a NFL roster.

If Parsons doesn't see a bunch of snaps at DE - its gonna be a real long day...

Good points. This team might find a way to have a pass rush despite the recent injuries. How good is Atlanta's O-line? Do they have weaknesses that can be exploited?

ATL's line cannot run block worth a damn.. they average 3.4 ypa on the ground and their leading rusher is a receiver.. and even he only averaged 3.8. On the flip side they have only allowed Ryan to be sacked 14 times in 8 games.. Then again Carolina, the Giants and the Eagles all got to him 3 times.. so it can be done. Do we think our pass rush is on part with those teams is the question..

It's time for Luke Gifford to step up when they move Parsons around. I would rotate Kamara and Parsons in place of Gregory with LVE as the Mike. It's also time for LVE to step up.

He’s not able to use his sideline to sideline ability as an edge rusher. It limits his playmaking ability.

Yeah him on the edge hampers him two ways.. One it makes it easier to double him and two it allows the offense to simply run away from him. Using him as a "joker" allows him to attack the line of scrimmage from anywhere. I think that would serve us better than having him line up exclusively on the edge on either side. But if we know this I think Dan Quinn does too.

Whatever Quinn needs to do to make Parsons "the next LT" type QB chaser I fully support.

Whatever that takes, then do it.

Left tackles are a lot bigger and stronger than they were when LT played. To say nothing of more refined technique wise. At least the good ones. Atlanta has a descendant of the Matthews clan for their LT. As such you KNOW his technique is going to be rock solid. I think lining Parsons up across from him will be a waste. Stack Parsons outside (or inside) shoulder of one of the other DEs and now you're talkin.

No doubt.
LT was not a stand up Right DE either hence my LT type pass rusher post. Following in the same mode as your joker comment.
As revealed in his one on one interview, LT is/was Parsons' childhood fave and I see how he could see himself playing in that role.

I understand the nuances and positional responsibility of modern day linemen and linebackers.
Parsons would excel and be most beneficial to the team in an LT multiple lineup look mode keeping the offense always guessing from where he would be attacking from.
Just as LT was used.

If he’s a dominant edge rusher his play making ability is not limited at all.

DE’s get paid more than LBers for a reason.
