i heard HC McCarthy comment on wr Michael Gallup and what his return means to the Cowboys offense.

Mike Mac said he was the Cowboys best "contested catch" WR and Gally adds a vertical push dimension downfield.

Ironically as i had said the exact same description of Gallup when it was brought up vs Cedric Wilson.

While i think Ceddy may have better catching hands than Gallup who like even Cooper and Lamb go thru bouts with the occasional dropsies, Wilson is not gonna out battle and best tight, hanging on coverage the way Gallup will.

And a previous threat brought up Cooper needing to be used more in red zone, and why so... but Coop is not gonna out-physical or out-jump CBs near goal line the way Gallup can.
i found it interesting that the HC brought up that element that Gallup possesses.

Coop’s power is getting open…
Lamb, run after catch…
Gallup, contested catches…
Wilson, hands…

We need them all. JMO.

I agree with everything OP and McCarthy said about Gallup. MG is going to beat 1-on-1 coverage, and he's a threat to go deep too. The passing game will open up for Shultz underneath and CeeDee in the slot. Glad MG is back and healthy...just need Dak to be back on his game.

I think the best thing about Gallup returning is that either Cee Dee or Cooper playing more in the slot, that is a huge upgrade over Wilson. Gallup will also bring big play ability down the field.

Gallup's return won't matter if Dak can't get the ball to him.

Or when Cooper has to exit the game per injury, we still have a bonafide downfield threat, and a guy that will out battle contested catches,

I'm careful not to downplay Ceddy, because he really stepped up and became a factor in the 3 WR, 11 personnel set.
He has size, hands and underrated run after catch skills as a receiver -ala the splendid open field run catches vs Chargers, and Minnesota.

There were a couple of times, i didn't give him a chance to make the 53 roster. But he has developed remarkably and put his progress into action.
Huge contributions that allowed us to win games ! .....ala Pats, Minnesota .

Wilson's issue early on was his inability to stay healthy. When he has played, he has been productive. The same can be said about Noah Brown, has been productive when given the opportunity. Going to be interesting in the off-season, if they decide to bring both of them back. Will they look to draft another high level receiver to replace Gallup?

First we'd have to see what the Cowboys plans for opting for Amari Cooper will they opt to continue his contract or will they escape clause out of it, and opt to
long term Gallup instead ?

- We see Cooper's talent as a quick route runner, but we've also seen how injuries hit and slow him on an yearly basis. are we bound to continue to see that until he finally
and eventually starts missing games because of those yearly nagging nicks ?

-Good point with Wilson and his early injuries, he just couldn't stay healthy and that further slows the development.
I'm not near a big fan of Noah Brown, as i see him as strictly an underneath receiver and he doesn't display the open field skills or vertical stretch as Wilson.
Brown seems much more limited.
And he's a guy that i could see Simi Feheko trying to compete with, should Simi show mass improvement.

-I think once (if..?) Gallup opts for FA, the Cowboys will look into the late rounds for another Ceddy Wilson type to develop. Wilson is also a FA, and since he was able to
place his own skills on display in just a limited time, it could give him an chance for offers as a FA..

It was interesting that they didn't touch Cooper's deal in the off-season. I believe all the guaranteed money has been paid out after this season and there is a net savings of 16 million if he is released in the off-season. How much would it cost in keep the lesser player in Gallup? 12-13 Million. A little savings but not too much.
