Will you be satisfied with 4-2 in our next 6 games?

Short answer...No. Not if this team truly has loftier goals than just winning the division and qualifying for the playoffs.

The amount of regular season wins you have really doesn’t matter. There’s been 14 and 15 win teams lose the Super Bowl. We saw an undefeated team lose the Super Bowl to a team that lost 6 games during the regular season. The Giants lost 7 games during the regular season in 2011 and won the Super Bowl. Tampa lost 5 games last year and won the Super Bowl against a KC team that had a better regular season record. Regardless your W/L record during the regular season it all comes down to how you’re playing in December and January. Once the playoffs starts your regular season record doesn’t mean anything. It didn’t do the Cowboys any good beating the Giants twice during the regular season in 07 and having a better regular season record. Once the playoffs start it’s a new season, the postseason.

5-1 is very possible
If you go 4-2 you may be fine in the division but it shows you aren’t a competitive playoff team
But by the time we reach the playoffs, we'll probably have both DLaw & Gregory back. Also Tyron ought to be 100% (90?) plus Gallup. The other injured players should improve our rotation/backup squads.

Understood, however, showing the ability to beat playoff type teams pays off in January and February.

It all comes down to beating playoff teams in the playoffs. We’ve beaten our share of playoff teams during the regular season only to end up losing to them in the playoffs. We’ve beaten teams that went onto win the Super Bowl. You have to be playing your best football entering the playoffs or you’re not going to get very far. It’s getting hot at the right time.

I don't disagree with your premise. This team and franchise doesn't have that cache to only focus on being hot during the playoffs. Jerry Jones has preached the just get into the tournament nonsense since the 2007 season. It has done nothing for the Cowboys.

They need to be rolling throughout the season AND playoffs. First things first, win this week. Try to get back on a streak like the one that ended against Denver.

Dallas is currently 6-2. The next 6 games would mean they played 14 games on the season. This is a 17 game season. They would have 3 games left.

4-2 over the next 6 means 10-4 with 3 to play.

I get where you’re coming from but it’s a long season especially this season and it’s almost impossible to roll all the way through the regular season. Most teams hit a few bumps during the regular season. We hit a huge bump last week. It’s how a team is playing in December and January that’s going to ultimately determine their fate in the playoffs. What’s done nothing for the Cowboys is winning a bunch of games during the regular season. They had a 12 and 13 win team go one and out. They had a couple of 12-4 teams and a 13-3 team that didn’t get past the divisional round. Don’t get me wrong I want the Cowboys to win as many games as possible during the regular season but the point is our season will come down to how we’re playing when the playoffs start. The regular season is about trying to position yourself to make a good run in the playoffs. It’s been proven many times over that if you can just get to the playoffs you have a chance. Despite how well we positioned ourselves in 2007 and 2016 it didn’t equate to a single playoff win.

I’ll take 4-2.

Defense has been playing above expectations except for last week.

Remember how the defense was last year. How big of a jump could they make in 1 year ?

Add in the current injures and I would be happy with 10-4 and the chance to get key players back healthy and be ready to peak at the end of the season.

No. 5-1 or 6-0. The only game that really worries me is Kansas City on the road and they’re nothing close to what they’ve been the past 2-3 years. We should beat Atlanta at home. Vegas has several issues going on with them and they’re far from a great team anyway. The Saints don’t have a QB. And the other two are Foreskins and Giants, both of which suck, although they are road games. 4-2 would not be bad, but give me 5-1.

Right. And it's more important how you are playing entering the playoffs than how you get there. Hopefully, we'll be better defensively down the stretch with Lawrence, Gregory and Gallimore all likely to return by then. Of course, we'll see if we can avoid other important injuries that might negate their return.

If we can hang in with the holes we have on defense we have a chance to finish strong when those players return. That’s pretty much how the Giants came on near the end of the 07 season. They started getting some players back and their pass rush took off. A number of championships have been won with a strong pass rush In postseason. Look no further than last season with the Bucs.

4-2 and we pretty much have no shot at the #1 seed and the bye.

So will I be satisfied? Yes.............but not thrilled. Just dont see this team going on the road in the playoffs and winning multiple games.

While I agree with your last sentence, the rest just isnt verified by reality. It doesnt matter what happens in the regular season and even a "rolling through" the RG could end in a disastrous performance in the first play off game.

Cowboys fans (or at least the doomster half) reeeeaaaaally need to chill. Gee. One game at a time, nothing more, nothing less.

I also don't believe in that 1st seed super advantage. Yes, it's an advantage because of one game less to the superbowl. But in any other place than Green Bay we have enough fans in the stadium to make it feel like a home game or at least like an even fanbase in the stands.

And as you have seen vs. Denver, there are so many away fans in Dallas anyway, the home field advantage isnt that big anymore. The one advantage I can comprehend is the whole "practise at home" and no travel thing. That's something that has to give you more time to sort things out. Other than that... meh.

before last week, wasn't this board basically saying we were unbeatable and booking SB trips?

oh what a difference a week makes.
