No, I can't at this point.

I don't like posting data from small samples, but it's all I can do right now. And I'm wondering if I'm wasting my time doing even this much.

Take heart -- there will always be those here who appreciate those searching for the truth and those who don't. Those who don't are critics, not fans. They're poison to those who care about their team and heroes to those who don't. Paying heed to critics is, usually, a mistake for a true fan. o_O

There is a fairly large debate here on HOW MUCH better this D is than the previous years D....This shows a real gauge of what its doing and why...good stuff T-RO. Again on the surface its easy to say "I watch the games and this D is still getting gashed by the run" In reality it looks like we have made player changes that are starting to turn the tide a bit!

In all seriousness and as much as i enjoy this website, a significant change came about after the addition of the likes system.

The difference was dramatic, just as it was on the other forums i participate in when they made the change.

I get it, i really do. Reality maintains this board for us and he wants to profit from it, i get it.

As with all forms of social media though, the feedback loop of a likes system does what it is designed to do, drive traffic. An unintended consequence however and one that is helping to tear at the fabric of our society is that it destroys content.

There's no denying it.

Unfortunately in the search for profit, traffic over content will win every time.

I don't doubt that there's something to be said for what you're saying but I, also, feel it helps to gauge what others think of your ideas.

I don't know if I should bother posting on this forum anymore.

It seems to be drifting towards twitter-type posts that don't provoke thought, inspire good dialog, or help anyone learn anything. Since I often actually take time to research my posts...is it worth it?

Right now I'd have to say no.
We all need some brotherhood bingo.

Shouldn't let it bother you. Most of those commenting were ardent Jaylon supporters to the end. Now that he’s been cut twice which supports the viewpoint that he was horrible, they want to quell all discussion of him because it serves as a reminder of how wrong they were.

It would be helpful if it was used only as you describe, as a little 'heads up' that 'hey, i like your post about Zeke's blocking' etc.. but of course that in effect is not what happens. It reinforces trolls to post the same rubbish day after day and gives them the reinforcement they seek by getting acknowledgement constantly by the same group time after time day after day.

Before i finally started blocking people for my own sanity, i could name the likes given list for many posts before i even looked at the list. Same guys reinforcing each other day after day after day.

I have so many guys blocked now i have a hard time following threads because i can't see half the posts.

I wish good posters would stop responding so often to many of the obvious trollers here. It just reinforces their behavior and leads to more posting crap.

Of course, it's anyone's privilege to block the posters who aren't willing to accept what those lunkheads have to say, critically, about their own team. Personally, I don't feel the need to block them. Considering the kind of nonsense most of them offer, usually makes ignoring them just as easy. ;)

Well, don't let the foolery get you down. I appreciate your insight, and you know that as I have jokingly called you the 'Belichick Intern' and bumped some of your threads early this year that I thought had great analysis and should have been higher traffic than the trolling posts you alluded to.

My encouragement to you and anyone bothered by it is don't take it too serious, the internet has always been a cesspool. I appreciate the folks who continually post solid analysis, interviews, film review, history research, and more.

This site does a good job because 20 years ago there were about 10 message boards for every pro sports team whereas now it's really filtered down to just one high traffic mainstay for every team. And most businesses have given up public message boards, opting instead for a social media app choice.

One quick question - are you getting this LB data by just watching All 22 tape? I thought it was available on profootballreference, nextgen stats or one of the data pools available out there. If not, I can see why you're reluctant to put that much time into it.

Yes, raw data is from pro football reference, but no summaries or calcs from there.

We've watched with horror in recent years at our linebacker play. Jaylon or LVE might stack up a lot of tackles, but huge chunks of yards were gained before those tackles. Did anyone imagine a complete turnaround?

In combined stats from the Viking and Bronco games Micah was credited with 21 solo or assisted tackles. 10(!) of those tackles were for losses or zero yards.

The average opponent's gain when Micah is a tackler in that two-game stretch? A meager 1.7 yards. This is a small data sample, but still...

--Tomorrow I'll post how Jaylon compared in two 2020 November games.
Smith is gone...let it go...jeez.

I suppose I am suggesting a new statistic:
OYPT...Opponent Yards Per Tackle....or perhaps a better name: YAPT...Yards Allowed Per Tackle.

OYPT/YAPT certainly has it limitations as some defenders spend more time by assignment further behind the line of scrimmage. I do think it may have value when comparing players of similar position and role.

Quite possible something like this exists somewhere, but I can't recall ever seeing it.

FYI...this stat is looking at all tackles, whether it be a running play or passing play. Makes it even more impressive what Micah did with 1.7 yards-allowed-per-tackle in those two games.

Thanks for the great insights! I have a question- does Pro Football Reference update their stats during the week? I ask because Parsons had a sack on Sunday and a TFL on a running play (8:07 mark in 2nd quarter), yet they only show 1 TFL for the Atlanta game.

Good question but I don't have an answer for you.
