Kellen Moore's deployment of Connor McGovern in various McJumbo packages has been one of the funnest parts of the 2021 season. It's like a top chef serving up prime beef in an ever-expanding menu. "Wait, Kellen, you dished up Filet Mignon with what?!" Trick plays rarely feature pure pigskin brutality--the Cowboys trick plays this year sure do.

Last Sunday vs Atlanta, we saw a whole new Jumbo wrinkle, that pushed the Big Boys concept to a whole new level. Yes, we witnessed McGovern lined up as an eligible wide receiver, flanked by two bulk brothers, Sprinkle and Schultz. All leading the way for playmaker Ceedee Lamb to work his magic.

Keep in mind that wide receiver screens almost never gain more than 8-12 yards. This one netted 37! Lamb wasn't touched until he'd gone 14 yards downfield.

Moore occasionally gets to go full flex with his creativity. It's clever, it's working and it gives us a laugh each Sunday. To celebrate it one more time...some pics:

What the heck was Atlanta's defense doing? How do you see a blocker out wide and not expect he's there to block for "something?" If Lamb blocked, McGovern himself could have netted 20 yards with their alignment.

I've wondered the same thing.

McGovern's increasing role as the 6th lineman playing all over may actually be helping Connor Williams keep his job.

I suggest it's more likely pushing McGovern's candidacy to start upwards w/greater force. He keeps reminding everyone "I'm here and I'm a player".

Williams could be used in same capacity. Both of the Connors move well in open space.

McGovern had 27 snaps w/the offense vs Atlanta! (That really surprised me)

Could have thought it was a decoy, like when teams send QBs out wide. Also, may have been depending on their defensive players to outquick the blockers and make the stop, Whatever it was, they ended up playing into our hands, which is what you want from your offensive coordinator, to outsmart the other team's defensive coordinator. It's nice to actually see that happen.

They're going to put McGovern at tightend. Have him work his way back behind the center and throw him a shovel pass. And with that touchdown the Cowboys go up by 21.

27-6 at the end of the third quarter.

KC may think they know this one but don't you think there are variations to it? ;)
