Um no.

Games like this with the entire NFL watching can make guys careers or boost the team to another level.

It’s like saying our win in Pittsburgh in 2016 was just meant more to the fans than players.

This is a monster of a game for both teams.

Does it mean much in the big picture? Of course not. But it will be a huge momentum boost for whoever wins this game.

I agree. I do think in terms of need this is a game KC needs as they head into their bye week in a division that is razor tight. In my opinion everything heading into this game points towards KC in terms of the importance as they now feel they are back on track and at home. For Dallas to come in a crush that narrative would be big.

I need to see this team figure out a way to stop a mobile QB like Mahomes too.

He is the best in the game and maybe all time at extending plays and creating big plays from it.

Dallas is going to I’m sure face that weasel Rodgers at some point or Kyler Murray and this is a good measurement for what to expect in the games ahead.

Not having Gregory makes it even more tough.

I think we have a much better football team than the Chiefs or Packers but QBs who run around and extend plays are a great equalizer in the modern game.

I agree. Vs Mahomes the secondary really needs to remain disciplined, Do not leave your man to chase the ball, Mahomes will make some crazy throws back across his body. These are throws most coaches do not want to see from the QB, throwing back across the field because when they are picked off there is nothing to stop the pick 6. Frankly much of what Mahomes does are things you would not try to teach your QB but he has been able to get away with it. However he has gotten away with it fewer times as he has thrown quite a few ints this season.

It’s not really a big game for the Cowboys beyond the hype. It has no tiebreaker implications within conference . One of the least meaningful games of the season.

We have a 4 game lead in division in loss column. No way without Dak going down is it even in jeopardy. The only importance is keeping pace for seeding. But that’s true for every game.

Of course it’s not a big deal in those regards. For everything else it’s huge and thinking it means more for the fans and not the players is silly.

Watch the effort they play with Sunday and then say that this game didn’t mean much.

This game does nothing much for our stats but for momentum it is as big as it gets.

Getting smoked by KC would be awful for this team going forward.

Prescott made an interesting comment about why he thought they lost that Denver game and that challenge is with this team more than any other because the owner is going to boast about them announcing they have arrived. I agree with him that the Cowboys thought they could just show up.

That humbling experience at home brought a benefit in how they played the next week against a good offense trying to get on a roll. Now, they get another in KC. The Chiefs think they have solved their problems.

There is a fine line between confidence and swagger and the Cowboys were beginning to cross that line before they were embarrassed at home by a team the Eagles easily dealt with in Denver.

The Cowboys have a cushion in the East, although PHL and WFT don't look like they're giving up, and this would be an AFC lost and not count in the tie-breakers.

I know some never want to lose so this question isn't for them. For the greater good of the season, would losing this game serve a better purpose than winning it? Send the message they have more work to do.

I know some are hoping for homefield throughout and that is one slippery slope for such a young team. This very young team that put up that game at home against Denver and we've learned since then it was a very sloppy week of practice. Do we think that can't happen again.

Note: Those that have not lived in the Metroplex with that local media probably don't know what a struggle it is for those players to keep their heads about them. They are either headed for the dumpster or the Superbowl and when you are a young player, it is hard to stay level with all of that swirling around you and it is even worse now because they were really bad last season so the local media will make this more of a thing.

And to compound that, this owner will not dissuade them from going over the top should they win in KC. The mantra will be "if they can win in KC, they can win anywhere".

Parcells knew. That's why he used that "anointing oil" line when they went off the rails about Romo. He never used that in NY or NE.

The biggest lie these coaches and players tell us is that they don't pay attention to any of that. Of course they do, they're human. And they're a winner right now in what Aikman coined "a winner's town" and it concerns me they actually think they've won something before they actually win anything. There is no star that shines brighter than the Cowboys star when they are on a roll.

And I am not talking about a performance like they put up against Denver. A hard fought close loss might be more beneficial than a win with this team.

So, what do you think?

Although many before me have probably echoed what I'm about to say, if the Denver beat down doesn't make them hate losing, then nothing will. As I look at your "close win" concept... The Denver beat down was so bad, that they should hate losing for eternity.

Like I said. The hype as you agree it doesn’t have any greater implications statistically.

And the momentum only matters if it carry’s over in upcoming weeks. If lose on Thursday , then it doesn’t matter.

This game is more about bragging rights. And hype.

In the end we have much bigger conference games coming up like with AZ.

Yes. Statistically. But you were like this is a fans game and doesn’t mean much for the players.

This game is huge for everyone involved.

Dak wins this game and he’s the front runner for league MVP.

Diggs or Parsons makes a big play and they are going to possibly win DPOY.

Dallas wins or smacks KC & Mahomes around at home and it’s a huge momentum boost.

It’s a monster of a game.

There again that’s all more about the hype that the media and fans can spin.

They can say we handled Mahomes and Chiefs therefore we must be serious SB contenders.

The players don’t need this validation.

Players listen to what is said. As for validation winning is validation.

Since the game is played by men and not by machines (apart from Micah lol) momentum, confidence and "bragging rights" are key factors. This game ain't just about +1 W/L but it's about where this team stands right now. Of course tghe Cowboys probably still make the playoffs with a loss against KC, but it sends a message. Just win it and make the Raiders fear for their lives and everything is going in the right direction. :D

lol.. So you believe players and coaches when they say they don’t read press clippings or care about outside opinions?

This game is huge. I’m sorry you can’t figure out how to quantify it but it’s a monster of a game and that’s why the entire NFL world will be watching.

This game is going to mean a lot more to the team and players than our 2nd games against the Eagles or Giants.

That’s what they’re supposed to be doing. And yea, I believe many do not look for the media’s hype. The smart ones stay away from it.

Again , you’re buying into the hype .

Players shouldn’t be listening to the media. First rule is to tune it out.

kind of hard if not impossible to do. Fact is these players by league rule must be available to the media, so they know exactly what is being said. I think in big game top teams rise to the occasion, this is a chance for the Cowboys to rise to the occasion and show they are for real, not just to the public but to themselves. Let me just say if I was playing in a big game vs a very good team you bet I want this game and I want it bad. Winning or losing does not complete the season but it games like this that players thrive for. It is the chance to show case yourself and your team.

There is nothing that is good about losing ....if.....in a playoff hunt.

Yep, if looking for draft picks because ya suck losing is a good thing.

I’m talking about not reading the paper or watching the media. That’s the first rule coaches will tell them. Stay away.

yet they still do and in a city like Dallas where football is king, I have no doubt they hear what is being said. I'm really not worried about over confidence by this team I more concerned they know damn well they can walk into any stadium in the NFL and win, not play good or come close but go in there and win. I think that has a bigger effect. We just have a different view of this.

I’d argue the players who are talked about don’t follow the media. But overall it’s one of the first rules coaches tell them is to not tune into it. They know they can’t totally avoid all of it but don’t pursue it because that crap can get into your head. Look how much it effects the fans.

these guys are on twitter now days they know what is said they read the comments. I think real competitors can over come that and I think in big game you need to play big you need to win period. Almost is not good enough. This franchise has dealt with almost long enough it is time for this team to stand up and take on a tough game and win it.
