Pretty sure attrition alone will nearly cut this by half but we're still facing some tough decisions. I'm guessing will cost us min 3-4 starters

As it does for most teams every year in the NFL, which is why I’m happy we’ve drafted so well the past few years.

‘Contrary to popular opinion, the Jones’ in Dallas have done one of the best jobs in the draft as well over the past nine drafts, one of only six teams to accumulate over 800 DrV points from drafted players and UDFAs combined.’ - The Norsemen - SB Nation

Restructure Zeke. Restructure Dak. Restruct Cooper. Restructure Lawrence. If push comes to shove Lawrence or Cooper could be cut.

This team will find away to survive.

Hate to say it but we might have to consider cutting Zeke. We’re at a competitive disadvantage because we choose to pay our rb big money

Nobody knows what the Cap will be in 22. The Cowboys had a crazy cap situation in 21 as well. I remember some pundits say the Cowboys should drop the tag off of Dak for more cap space. The Cowboys could make three simple moves and they would be under the cap. I am not worried. I bet the person who wrote this did not take into account the cap savings on Jaylon.

We know that the CAP will be no higher than $208 million. That is the maximum the league and NFLPA agreed to. The $19 million number for the Cowboys is based on that maximum. It is possible the CAP could be lower making the Cowboys problem worse.

I have no doubt that Cowboys will get under the CAP. They have to according to league rules. But to suggest it is not a problem, and the Cowboys roster will not suffer as a result of the problem is wishful thinking. It is 2017 all over again.

We can imagine Dallas will lose Dalton Schultz, Michael Gallup, LVE, Cedrick Wilson and probably Randy Gregory. Then we can assume all those free agents we signed for 1 year will move on as well. Maybe they can scrape up enough CAP space to sign one of their big free agents, like Gregory, but losing the rest of those guys has to hurt a little.

They can’t touch his deal until 2023.
Well it just wouldn't make sense to cut him because the salary is already guaranteed...but...

They could convert it to signing bonus and create room that way, but it does eventually catch up if you cut that player earlier than the original length of the deal (likely in Ellliots case).

I wonder if the figures used account for moving money forward from this year, which we can and probably will do. Not really significant either way. Just curious.

It definitely accounts for Lawrence and his 27 million figure. That ain't happenning.

Prescotts salary will be converted to bonus in all four years, which will create a ton of space as we go along, and as needed.

You know I can't stand the Joneses, but I really do trust them when it comes to cap management.

If they continue to draft the way they have been lately, we will be fine...and really, that's key no matter what.

It's clear we aren't going to sign high priced free agents no matter what the cap situation is. As long as that works out, fine by me.

I just don't see us being handcuffed, or wanting to do something player acquisition wise that we can't. They will make it work.

They will certainly get under the cap. And they’ll probably be able to keep Gregory among the pending free agents. But fans shouldn’t expect any more than that. Forget keeping Schultz, Gallup, or the rest of the 2018 draft class.

But like you said, hope they continue to draft well in 2022.

We will have to resign Gregory, he’s our second best player on D. Could see DLaw being a casualty. Be really nice to keep Gallup too but also Cedric.
Cutting Amari could be on the table too.
