He was reaching for the ball AROUND Brown's helmet. That's clear on video.

I don't even know what you're talking about. Did you even watch the game? See the play?

I'm pissed we lost, too, but I'm neither blind nor a total Homer. Brown played terribly. And that was a legit call.

It sounds like you only saw what you want to see. Go watch what the WR is doing after the ball bounces off of Brown. He clearly tries to sell the PI by pulling Brown toward him by grabbing his head.

For me, it’s more of an issue of throwing a flag then and there on a play like that. With NFL overtime rules, that ends the game.

Exactly. I was surprised they threw that flag at that moment also. Especially when it wasn't a clear cut fragrant PI.

I get where you’re coming from, but it’s a crap penalty that needs to be changed.

If the WR decides to work back through the defender on an underthrown ball, how is it on the defender?

Watching again, it’s faceguarding at best which isn’t a penalty in the NFL. Bad call.
But jn this case, the receiver didn’t even work his way back. There was literally no contact from Brown on the receiver. He was in terrible position and still sucks, but that’s not PI

Anybody notice that Dak has been off since he injured his calf against New England?

Is there a chance that he still isn't right? Or is it something else, like his repaired foot?
To me - he’s going for big “hero” play more often than not. Rather than just taking what’s there and moving the chains.

It was a 100% crap call

That’s not a PI man. Nothing can convince me. Also, how can you turn your head when a guy is holding onto it?

Even not turning his head, still isn't PI...unless now they are saying you MUST turn and look for the ball or it's PI. Because there was nothing there, and they knew it.

Brown has been the same corner since his days at Purdue. People can read his scouting report.

Heavy hands, tends to grab, draws penalties and fails to turn his head around.

A few picks and people are believing him and Lewis were good. Hell, Diggs has stunk just as bad
There is a reason they wanted Surtain or Horn.

Yeah, it's a call you see many times every week. And each time I ask myself the same question you're asking. I thought the intent of the rule was that a defender had to be turned around looking for the ball in order for that point-of-catch contact to be allowed. But it is now being called in a way that the contact is irrelevant; a defender cannot face guard a receiver -- irregardless of contact -- without being turned around looking for the ball.
Face guarding is no longer a penalty
