I’m not sold this is a collapse. I also thought this team was over hyped at 6-1. Maybe this will ground all of the over the top SB talk and just focus on our battles week to week as a strong playoff contender.

We faced the toughest stretch of our schedule since our opening 2 weeks. And we are suffering through multiple key injuries and other lingering injuries. And a couple teams which were more desperate situations than ours. Last night was a must win if Raiders had intentions of remaining in playoff hunt. Those intangible factors play a role this time of year as we’ve seen other upsets of sorts around the league.

Good news is we have 4 upcoming games with losing record teams with 3 of them against division rivals including 2 with Wash. 11-6 and probably 10-7 is going to easily win our division.

We need to focus on getting everyone healthy for the playoffs. I’d sit Elliott and others as we probably won’t finish above 3rd or 4th seed anyway. If we have all of our Star talent healthy for playoffs we should still be a tough out.

I’m really not trying to be a wise ars here but what makes you so confident we are going to make the playoffs? Sincere question out of curiosity because many others share your opinion and I honestly don’t see it. Even if we sweep the Commanders and beat the Giants, there is no reason to believe the Eagles won’t do the same with an extra game against the Giants. Then we have must win games against the Saints and Cardinals.

There seems to be more of a chance the final game against the Eagles will be another win and in scenario and we haven’t exactly shown up for those. I really hope to get another game to the season in the playoffs but I can’t make myself believe the chances are very good.

1st of all the Cowboys have NEVER missed the playoffs after starting 6-1 in our history. 10 division titles and 4 WC appearances. I like those odds.

Our divisional rivals all have 6 losses. Theoretically one of them would have to win out to overcome while we lose 3 more. I’d wager all you want that won’t happen.

And I’d argue we probably only need 1 or 2 more wins to earn a playoff spot. I have to believe 9-8 gets at least a WC and 10-7 prob wins division.

Eagles have 6 left and Dallas has 7.

They would need to finish no worse than likely 5-1 to 4-2 and have Dallas finish with no more than 2 wins. Them winning is very likely.

But I just don’t see Dallas only winning 1 more game the rest of the season.

As long as those players on IR come back and contribute, Dallas will not be in a free fall. The remainder of the NFCE stunk early and will cost them. But it will all depend on how the Cowboys will be playing come post season time. This team needs to be more physical and cohesive, beginning with the OL. Or its one and done.

Ah...the Realists have been excoriated, mocked, and basically dissed as being malcontent pessimists with hidden agendas

It takes me no pleasure in saying once again that:

This team has the same porous defense, albeit with a new coordinator that is making small strides...very small

This team does not have an MVP quarterback....and I know this is deeply personal to some here

This team is fundamentally flawed on both sides of the ball and leading the league in penalties bear this out

There’s always next year though.....

Our problem has always been not being deep enough -- world-beaters when everyone is on the field, and quickly a bad team as guys are injured or suspended.

But it does seem that the wheels come off when Smith goes out and the offense isn't the same without Cooper. It appears that Cooper quietly really is that good? Where would we be without Parsons this year with Tank and Gregory out?

Healthy we are going to be a very hard out -- do we ever get healthy though?

After their six game winning streak, they started looking like the "same old Cowboys" again.

When the defense shows up, the offense flops. Offense finally gets something going and the defense gives up chunk plays by the dozen.

It looks all too familiar at the moment.

Yep. The injury bug is too much. Losing Both DE’s was like losing both OT’s last year. Now both WR’s too? Just a load of crap. Dak hasn’t been the same since the calf. He doesn’t even move well and looks slow. Zeke looks awful.

For the season I have us:
Saints -W
Commanders -L
Giants -W
Commanders -W
Cardinals -L
Eagles -L and end 10-7

Eagles
Giants -W
Jets -W
Commanders -W
Giants -W
Commanders -W
Cowboys -W and end 11-6

It would flip everything if we beat the Eagles in Philly but I just don’t think they have it in them to win what’s essentially a playoff game for the win and in.

Wild card could still be possible but I haven’t gotten into the other teams schedules to see where they end up.

The Cowboys are on a Dakfall. He does this every year when it's his time to step up and be a leader. He doesn't have the instincts to lead when the pressure is on.
Dak is a very good quarterback. He doesn't throw many interceptions- something that has always impressed me. But he doesn't have that instinct to lead the team when they are desperate for leadership. He thinks it's all on Kellen Moore to provide him with a gameplan that simply overpowers opponents and design routes that give him receivers that are 15 yards open.
Until Dak becomes the gunslinger who makes his own rules, he will never be a leader.
I like the guy , but I don't think he's a top tier guy. Some things can't be coached, and Dak doesn't have them naturally.

10-7 gets you a wild card. The 6 and 7 spots have 5 wins right now
