For the NFL, that has to be a "Win the battle, lose the war" number.

Stunning audience number to watch officials throw flags with a couple scattered football plays thrown in. No one watches that game and thinks "Wow, I want to see more of that."

Several people at my Thanksgiving get-together commented on the flags. These are casual - at best - viewers. People who may only watch a primetime national TV game and even then, they don't always watch, and even they commented on the penalties being a turnoff.

These people aren't savvy enough to the game to differentiate "bad" officiating from "good" officiating, all they know is the amount of times the game was stopped and a referee popped up on camera was a deterrent to their enjoyment.

It's an interesting dichotomy for the NFL. Officiating like yesterday is a barrier to entry for bringing a lot of new fans to the game. But on the other hand, does the league care? The worst NFL game still dominates everything else in TV ratings. They don't really need to feel compelled to do anything about it until it starts affecting the bottom line.

Not surprised . It was a very entertaining game even if we came up short. Made for TV drama.

Jethro must have been proud with the ratings . This is is exactly his immediate goal . “ interesting and relative “

We really should get some gear with that phrase and #1 in Revenue .
So tired of coming up short. It feels like we've lost 10 straight.

I expected Bears/Lions to draw the biggest rating.

I hope the audience enjoyed Flag Fest 2021 starring Anthony Brown.

And then people whine about the Cowboys being on national TV so much and how sports talk shows talk about them 24/7.

Ummmm this is why. :laugh::starspin::hammer:

Considering the degree to which the Cowboys prop the league up, we don't get nearly enough coverage or promotion.

Two traditional powerhouses, once upon a time top 3 fanbases in the league, kind of a classic matchup, exciting game that went to the wire. And the Cowboys are having a good year. And last Thanksgiving was FUBAR, so more reason to hang around the family longer.

I'm fond of saying that rooting for a particular used to mean something. A set of values. And the Cowboys and Raiders were top of the list in that regard.

This right here is Jerry’s Super Bowl. As long as there are eyeballs on the screen and people buying tickets to Jerry world that’s all it’s about

That's around 1.5 million viewers per penalty. I think. My math skills aren't great.
